Versatile monitors for successful mixes
The compact M-Audio BX5BT is a pair of monitor speakers that can be tailored to a room's specific acoustics via Bluetooth using a dedicated app. Three selectable EQ modes, conveniently accessed from the front panel, make it easy to adapt the sound for different monitoring situations and compare mixes with varying tonal balances. Powerful performance and dynamic frequency reproduction extending up to 20kHz provide a clear and detailed listening experience. Suitable for music, podcasts, and video productions alike, these monitors offer the flexibility required throughout the mixing process. The result is mixes that translate more consistently across a wide range of playback systems.
Multiple EQ modes
The M-Audio BX5BT features a 5" woofer made of Kevlar, valued for its strength and durability, delivering low-frequency reproduction down to 49Hz, while a 1" tweeter with a built-in waveguide ensures clear, detailed and well-balanced highs across the frequency range. A 6.3mm stereo jack input is located on the rear of the right-hand speaker, with input level adjustment provided by a dedicated rotary control for straightforward operation. Three selectable EQ modes – Flat, Hype and Custom – are available from the front panel, with Flat offering neutral studio monitoring and Hype emulating the sound of typical consumer hi-fi speakers and headphones. Custom mode enables playback to be optimised for room acoustics via a 5-band parametric equaliser, accessible through a Bluetooth-connected app, allowing the speakers to be adapted to a wide variety of listening environments.
For mixes that stand out
The M-Audio BX5BT is designed to help sound engineers create well-balanced mixes that translate reliably across a wide variety of playback systems, regardless of the speakers ultimately used for listening. As a result, the need for additional monitoring set-ups is significantly reduced, allowing the mixing process to remain both efficient and consistent. Workflow is further streamlined by the ability to adjust the frequency response and simulated listening environment quickly via a smartphone or directly from the front panel. In addition to signals connected through the rear inputs, Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity also enables wireless monitoring, adding an extra level of flexibility for day-to-day studio work.
About M-Audio
M-Audio is one of the best-known manufacturers of MIDI controllers, audio and MIDI interfaces, monitor boxes, and other studio equipment. Founded in 1988 under the name Midiman, the company quickly made a name for itself, always focusing on practical features and value for money. With the successful Oxygen series, M-Audio was instrumental in establishing the genre of MIDI controller keyboards for DAW-based studios. For a time, M-Audio was part of Digidesign / Avid. The brand is now part of the inMusic group and its success story continues to this day.
Quick to set up for optimal sound
Thanks to their compact dimensions, the two monitors can be set up in just a few moments, making them equally well suited to permanent studio installations and mobile applications. The package includes a mains adaptor for power supply, along with a connection cable for routing the signal from the right-hand speaker to the left-hand unit, allowing the system to be assembled with minimal effort. When positioned at an angle of ±60° to one another, the monitors form an ideal stereo triangle with a clearly defined sweet spot at its centre, while optimum performance is achieved by placing the tweeters at ear level. With a combined output of 120W and a maximum sound pressure level of 109dB SPL, the BX5BT is capable of delivering impressive volume levels, comparable at close range to those one might experience at a live concert.
