Balanced performer!

I now use legere reeds on all my reed instruments - saxophones , sopranino down to baritone and Eb/C/Bb/A clainets. I am a professional woodwind 'doubler' but have spent the past six mounts as clarinet with a professional sinfionetta. I use various mouthpiece and find the Legere European Signature 3 works well on my Vandoren M30. I use the 2.75 grade on my Selmer C85-120, Concept and Vandoren B46. I do not like the feel of the normal legere Signature clarinet reed but find the European version fantastic for all my requurements. The best thing is that they play in all conditions whether the weather is wet, dry, hot or cold - when one is on tour this is fantastic! I rotate my reeds and have found that by doing this they last a very long time...... two alto sax reeds are still working well after 12 months!

Plátky jsem pou¸il jako hrá? v symfonickém orchestru, jako hrá? v komorním souboru vá¸né hudby (klarinetové kvarteto) a mí ¸áci jako sólisté se symfonickým orchestrem (Weber - Koncert ?. 1 fmolla Kramá?- Koncert Es dur). Jedná se o plátky, které výborn? fungují zejména ve spojení s klasickými hubi?kami Vandoren a Selmer. Z mého pohledu je to velká zm?na, proto¸e plátek je nejmén? spolehlivá sou?ást klarinetu. Plátek Legere zaujme vyrovnanou kvalitou a vysokou spolehlivostí. Skv?lá je zejména ovladatelnost, spou¨t?ní v pianu, okam¸itá mo¸nost hrát - není t?eba má?et, rozehrávat. Mohu jen doporu?it. Je t?eba vyzkou¨et a najít správnou tvrdost. Sám pou¸ívám Vandoren V12 ?.3, a legere také ?. 3. Doporu?uji, je to dobrá volba!

Klang super, aber fallen unterschiedlich aus

Prinzipiell bin ich begeistert von den European Signatur-Blättern. Einige Zeit nach der ersten Bestellung hatte ich weitere geordert, in der gleichen Stärke. Diese fielen jedoch deutlich weicher aus und klangen daher typisch näselnd. Das erste 3er Blatt entsprach der erwarteten Stärke, das zweite war etwas so wie die ersten 2 3/4. Das letzte bestellte 2 3/4 (ich habe gerne mehrere in Reserve, trotz der Haltbarkeit, und gerne in verschiedenen Stärken bei wechselnder Kondition...) wiederum noch schwächer als die zweite Generation. Muss man also ausprobieren. Das Mundstück hat einen großen Einfluss auf die Klangqualität.
Während meiner Bewertung zum ersten 2 3/4 Blatt hatte ich ein Rico Reserve X15E-Mundstück gespielt. Bin jetzt umgestiegen (immer auf der Suche nach dem optimalen "deutschen" Klang auf der Böhm-Klarinette...) auf das Vandoren Black Diamant BD5. Auf diesem klingen auch die schwächeren Blätter (die ich schon aufgegeben hatte) sehr gut.
Fazit: Klang und Spielbarkeit super, Reproduzierbarkeit der Stärke nicht verlässlich, ob das Mundstück passt: ausprobieren. Es funktioniert sicherlich auf mehr Mundstücken als in der "offiziellen" Liste.
Nachbearbeiten empfiehlt sich nicht, die normalen Blattschneider haben ein runderes Kantenprofil. Das Blatt spielt zwar noch, klingt aber nicht mehr so voll.

Gute Alternative, klare Vor- und Nachteile

Ich habe mehr als zwei Jahre fast ausschließlich Legère European Cut (RC Prestige, BD 5) gespielt. Alle hier bereits erwähnten Vorteile stimmen: Verlässlichkeit, Haltbarkeit, Klang, auch die Ansprache in Standardsituationen ist gut bis sehr gut. Zwei Punkte haben mich jetzt zu Holzblättern zurückgebracht:
- Schwankungen in der Fertigung: Man kauft ein Blatt für mehr als 30 Euro, packt es aus, und dann das Zittern: Passt es? Leider sind Ausreißer nach unten zu häufig. Vor allem zu leichte Blätter, die dann klanglich bei Auftritten nicht zu gebrauchen sind. Sie näseln. Oder machen Probleme im Staccato. Oder beides. Passiert nicht so oft wie bei Holz. Aber es passiert.
- Die Blätter machen bei Fortissimo komplett dicht. Diese Blätter, auch andere Legères, die auch ausprobiert habe, auch für deutsche Klarinette. Scheint ein grundsätzliches Problem zu sein. Für Kammermusik mag das okay sein. Ich spiele in einem sinfonischen Blasorchester und muss mich im ff gegen Trompeten und Saxophone durchsetzen. Bei Holz: Mehr Luft, mehr Lautstärke. Bei Legère: Mehr Luft, ab einer bestimmten Menge kommt gar nichts mehr.
