Portable PA stand set, 40kg capacity

The K&M 21449 is a folding speaker stand set supplied as a pair, designed for mobile PA users who need stands that deploy fast and travel light. Each stand is constructed from aluminium with fibreglass-reinforced components, weighing under 3kg each and yet supporting up to 40kg – enough for most full-range PA cabinets in regular use. K&M's patented gradual height adjustment system speeds up setup, with a traditional locking screw added for security, while a clamping lever locks the three legs open in a single motion. A carry bag for both stands and an adapter sleeve for 38mm speaker flanges are included.

Click, push, go

Each stand deploys in two steps: The three legs swing out and lock via a clamping lever that clicks into place, with diagonal support braces between the centre column and the legs adding lateral stability. Height then adjusts between 1.27m and 1.m via K&M's patented push-button system – press to release, set the height, engage the locking screw for security. The push-button mechanism removes the need to fully loosen and retighten a collar for each adjustment, which matters when one person is setting up multiple stands alone under time pressure. The 35mm diameter centre column accepts most standard speaker flanges directly; the included sleeve extends compatibility to 38mm flanges. The stated load ratings apply with a centred load and no lateral forces – particularly relevant for outdoor use where a wind pushing on a large cabinet can shift the centre of gravity.

Built for the road

The K&M 21449 set is aimed at solo performers, mobile DJs, and small event operators who load in and out frequently and need stands that set up quickly, pack small, and hold a full-size PA cabinet securely. The aluminium construction and carry bag make the set manageable for a single operator: Both stands travel together in a single bag, keeping the total load manageable even with the adapter sleeve and hardware. The trade-off against heavier steel tripod stands is predictable: The 21449 prioritises packability and speed over the maximum ballast a steel round-base stand provides. For permanent installations or high-traffic live venues where stands regularly come into contact with crowds or equipment, a heavier fixed stand is the more appropriate choice.

About K&M

Founded in 1949, König & Meyer (K&M) initially produced music stands and measuring tools. Just two years later, the range was expanded to include instrument stands and microphone tripods, which are still the core business of the manufacturer today – and are still manufactured in their facilities in Wertheim, Germany. K&M also produces musicians' stools, stands for speakers, monitors, and lighting, and a range of accessories for mobile devices, such as tablet mounts. To satisfy the company's own exacting standards, even the individual metal and plastic components continue to be manufactured primarily in the company's factory in Wertheim, with particular emphasis placed on environmentally friendly and sustainable production.

From seated audiences to standing crowds

The 1.27m to 1.93m height range covers most small to medium venue configurations. For theatre performances or corporate presentations with a seated audience, the lower end of the range places the cabinet at the right height for even front-row coverage without the speaker towering over the stage picture. For school halls, dance classes, or community events where the audience shifts between seated and standing, the push-button system allows height to be adjusted quickly between sets or sessions. At full extension, the stands support PA cabinets at standing-crowd height for parties, club nights, and outdoor events, with the 40kg capacity comfortably handling powerful full-range enclosures. Between gigs, both stands pack into the supplied carry bag for easy transport from van to venue.

Awesome Speaker Stand Set
Djaps 19.01.2022
It is well built, stable, easy to handle. One note to have in mind, it is not for big speaker sizes. I could't use it with my RCF 745's because it was unstable. Smaller ones should be fine.
