Swampy and sinister!
The Ghost 23.07.2013
I bought this to complement a recently purchased lap steel guitar. I had initially tried to play it with a standard guitar Slide both steel and Glass which does work but is extremely awkward and falls of at either end of the six strings as they aren’t the width of the strings. When I received this product I was amazed how heavy it was. It was so heavy it had broken the plastic holder in the case it came in when it arrived, which incidently is a good addition for storage. When I placed it on the strings and got used to the new approach of holding it I was amazed at just how dark, swampy and sinister the weight can make the headstock end of the lap steel sound. Very pleased with this purchase already. It also is useful up the neck for a brighter country style sound.
I didn't give this full marks as i feel the Tonebars with additional grips are better and easier to use, but also 3 times as dear.

Simple and Solid

Solid tonebar. Cheapest I could find by some way. Not a steel player by any means, but it's heavy, smooth and seems to do the job right.

Very good value, but....

It could do with a ridge to rest ones hand against as it does get a little tiring squeezing onto it all the time but I'm sure it's something I'll get used to. Aside from that, this is crazy cheap compared to other similar parts on offer here.

One thing worthy of note, though, I bought this to go with the Harley Benton Slider II and didn't actually realize that one came with the guitar, anyway, so now I have 2 ! Still, spares are always handy and at this price I don't begrudge it enough to return it so I'm keeping it until I lose the other one ;-)

Bang for the Buck

Lap Steel isn’t my main instrument. I just needed a decent bar for a few songs in my duo’s set, and the price was right. It does the trick but it gets hard to hold on to if you play for any length of time. . My technique and tired old hands may be the problem though ;)

Quality for a good price

This is all that you'll need for playing slide or lap steel guitar. It comes in a handy little case that prevents it from banging around in your gig back (although the case isn't very sturdy - two of mine have broken, although in a way that I can still use them). The tonebar itself is heavy and smooth and I feel confident using it.

Nicely weighted simple tonebar
Janice 28.11.2013
This tonebar has a nice weight which gives good tonal response and note clarity. The size feels nice on a 6 string lap steel. In common with all other cylindrical tonebars I guess, it can be a little tricky to hold until you get used to it, especially when it's warm and your hands are a little sweaty, but you soon get the feel of it.

Cheap tonebar

Excellent for the first steps in pedal steel guitar playing. And if it is nothing for you, you don't loose a lot of money
