Great value for the price
Wojtek_Stecyszyn 20.01.2023
For this price you get really nice instrument.
Yes, it is a bit more heavy than some strats but not so much. I was preparing for big weight but was positively surprised that its not that heavy like some folk described.
The neck is bit fat - you have to try it and see if you like it or not.
Tuners on the head seem very low quality but they do the job.
Tremolo bar is adjusted with a little screw under the bridge (you have to insert the bar and bend it down to access it) and you can set the bar to spin on its axe exactly as you like. And you just insert it without twisting it in, which is a nice feature.

Black Paisley motive looked bit pale and the colours were not so vivid and lively like on the photos, but still looks lovely and makes this guitar stand out from the stratocaster crowd ;)

Unfortunately mine had some unacceptable fret buz. Despite right neck relief and quite high string action the strings were buzzing all across the fretboard. I had to return it. And did so with no problems. Tank you Thomann :)

Exactly What I Was Looking For
Grizpaw 04.10.2022
I bought this guitar several months ago, intending it to be a platform for customization. I'd already planned on replacing the pickups, pots and switches, which will be done soon. In every other regard this is a solid guitar for a relative beginner such as myself. If you're looking for a Strat style project to build, I believe it would be hard to beat this one.

Good guitar for the money but some imperfections.
RobbyRock 22.04.2020
So after 2 weeks of waiting my St70 Black Paisley arrived on my dor. The packaging was awful, the guitar moved in both of the boxes. The guitar feels so good in my hand and it is all i wanted. The finish is the best i could get, pickups sound incredibly good. The setup is almost good.. i need to lower the action a bit (perssonal taste). Fret ends feel good, frets look good, fretboard looks dry, but with some lemon oil it will do the job.

The guitar i think is a b-stock because it has some of the damages around the neck where it meets the body, and the worst one is that the tunners are not aligned at all. I'm so disappointed because this guitar was a gift from my mother and it is in bad shape.

In the end the guitar is absolutely wonderful but with major flaws that I am deeply disappointed with. I hope for an agreement with Thomann in this situation.

P.S.: I did not receive any sticker as I received with the other guitars ordered :D

Pretty axe!
Martin Cieslar 19.05.2018
Much have been written already but my 2 cents....

Craftsmanship flawless, neck, body - perfect.
Strings can be set really low with no buzz.
Tremolo and tuners are...well OK for this price.
Roswell pickups are IMO the weakest part. Humbucker sounds great but single pups are low Q sounding.
Thinking about replacing the whole pickguard for EMG SRO ST11-B.
Buy one, you wont be disapointed.

Great Guitar
Scotty_Holt 23.03.2022
Overall the guitar is good, i remember the humbucker being a good mix of just high output enough to do modern metal tones but not bite your head off screaming, very rich and warm tone, trem had no issues with, although if you dislike chunky necks tjis is not the guitar for you it is not a shred ready Jackson Dinky or Soloist but its still comfy and should accommodate most hand sizes

very happy with this guitar plays well sounds pretty amazing to and is well made no blemishes or marks fret edges were perfect, (some reviews of HB guitars do mention the fretedges being sharp).

The only gripe i truely have is puttin g the coil tap switch on the volume pot, makes it difficult to switch it on or off without accidentally adjustting the volume as you have to pull it n push it, it moves, there is a reason other manufactures place the coil tapping in the tone pot.

Gorgeous looking guitar (surprised with the shipping)
RodPhet 27.01.2021
I got this guitar for the most obvious reason, the pattern. After watching some videos, I got convinced by the praised most of the reviewers gave it and decided to order this one and 4 different models.
First of all, I was REALLY impressed by how in good shape the guitars arrived, not a single blemish in any of the necks and bodies (but there were some that look like a result of manipulation).
Then, this particular guitar came with the middle pickup pushed as If it weren't screwed, but I haven't had the time to check under the pickguard. Even though the pups are noisy, they sound good enough.
If you are looking for a versatile guitar, this one is a good choice, the push pull pot will let you alternate between music styles without having to be swapping guitars when practicing or performing.

A
A HB ST-70 Black Paisley Beauty
Anonymous 12.01.2017
I live in the central US... I ordered this guitar for a buddy of mine. From Germany, it took 2 weeks to get here...which is pretty much the average time of all my orders, which is good. I must add, this was during the Christmas season also... They arrived in great condition.

Right out of the box, we tuned it up and started jamming. While I think it is a little more for country than rock, it's a good guitar. The weight is lighter than expected, likely because it's basswood. The pickups aren't the best, but they aren't bad. If they aren't your thing, you can change/upgrade them quite easily.

The only issue I can think of is that the intonation wasn't very good. Both it, and the neck, needed a little adjustment...which, many guitars are like that when first ordered. A lot of the time weather conditions can play all sorts of havoc on a guitar, so if you order one, and it seems to be having issues staying in tune...check that out before passing judgement. Once both were adjusted, it played excellent.

If you really like the looks of this guitar, it's worth getting. If the tone isn't your thing, it's an easy fix. I have a video on youtube where we play it right out of the box. You can see it close up, and hear out it sounds. This may be your thing! Thanks!

J
Nice guitar for price with a few issues
JSBEANER 12.02.2021
First let me say for the price its a decent guitar (I bought 2 HB's for my first purchases the other I loved this one is OK).
Liked the look of the this git, Paisley pattern very nice.
Use: Needed a Strat style guitar for recording, not sure I will use it live we will see.
Pros: It feels& sound like a Strat ,
Cons, Fret's needed some serious work both polishing & filing of fret ends. I hate the Tremolo as its too hard to maintain tuning stability, the arm is not a threaded arm, have to lift the bridge to install Not the easiest. Also because the nut was not cut great , string catches, but can assisted by graphite or nut lube!!. Tuning keys would be the the only other item I would change. But hey It's sound like I hate this guitar, I don't. I think with a little work It can be a gigging guitar where you don't worry to much if it gets banged around. Again Good Value for money , and I will be back for other HB's in the future

Harley Benton Paisley st-70 Black Paisley
Mike Wyatt 07.07.2021
I received this guitar yesterday and after checking everything out my first job was to electrically shield the body cavities. It was shipped virtually as a hard tail, but after adjusting the tremolo springs there was very little to do with the rest of the set up. The intonation was good and only needed very slight adjustment to the action. Overall the guitar is exceptional value for money but my only criticism was the very poor loose fit of the push in wammy bar. It swung around far too loosely and could not remain in a set position. This needs to be addressed which is a blemish on an otherwise fantastic value for money guitar.
