Outstanding value for the money
Ricardo. 16.01.2024
The set is perfect for pedalboard building. It comes in a correct packaging and includes the necessary tools for assembly.

Setting up the cables is very easy, measure the desired length, trim both ends and screw the heads.

The quality is very good, both for the cables and the plugs, and audio signal is unaltered, I haven't detected any unwanted noise after a couple months of intensive playing.

The only aspect that could be improved is the trimming tool, it is much easier to get a clean cut with a cutter or exacto knife than with the tool included.

I'm very VERY impressed
ZappaKrimson 14.03.2020
I'm completely bowled over by these having just re-jigged a large pedal board. The plugs and cable are of really good quality and I can tell no difference sound wise (by ear) to the far more expensive Evidence Audio cable I've used. The most impressive thing is the ease with which you're able to make these cables. Just make sure to cut the cable at a proper right angle (use sharp scissors instead of the provided cutter) push it really hard into the slot, do up the screw tightly and you've got a clean sounding cable of the exact length in one minute flat! They also look really tidy on your board too, I couldn't have a bad word to say about these. I see others saying that they have had slight problems with them but I can't see how? I just made up ten patch cables and at the first time of ever trying every one of them worked straight away. At four times the price I am now disappointed that I bought the Evidence Audio solder-less cables kit.

Exactly what is needed

I used it to patch my pedalboard. Very easy to use, in 10 minutes I had 6 pedals connected with custom made lengths, tight and working.

Great Quality item
An Fear Sneachta 21.03.2022
Created patch cables of various lengths and all are working flawlessly so far. Very straightforward and easy to assemble. Although the cabling is thin, the jacks seem to be of a decent quality. Highly recommended.

This might be the single most impressive thing I've bought all year..
Leader Sound Productions 08.09.2023
I wasn't expecting a whole lot with these, but I bought them to try out and I was astounded with how simple and easy this is, and the quality of the integrated connectors are better than a lot, if not all of the patch cable I used previously. cut the cable to length, push the end in the connector and screw the screw in. Done. clean strong signal too. incredibly impressed, to the point that I don't know why this isn't just the standard way to make all jack cables.

the simplest , most impressive item I've bought all year. a cable......You will not be disappointed with these.

Cheap alternative
Rccastro 04.04.2025
For the price seemed to good to be true, nonetheless dos the job perfecly.
Can't notice any sound quality compromise comparing them to other brands. I allways use a multimeter when making patch cables and the impedance of the e cable is on the same line or sometimes lesser than the others.
Just dont give it a 5 star because I would like the cable to be more thick and the tool for cutting them is useless.

Hard to fault
tremblox 21.06.2021
Not sure what I can bring new to the table here. i agree with a lot of the other reviews.
So I've been replacing a lot of Harley Benton pro - gold flat patch cables on my board. Why? Because they are microphonic. Don't believe me? Well just tap the black plastic cover on the rear of the connector and listen. I probably didn't need to replace them but I did anyway.
So yes I agree with others - ditch the enclosed wire cutter/stripper - just use a sharp carpet knife, Stanley, or similar. Ditch the screwdriver -sooner of later the shaft is just going to turn in the handle. Use another.
I've bought two of the kits and an extra connector pack too (great that Thomann now offers this), and have made up probably in excess of 15 patch cables (not exactly sure). All connections except one were fine first try. The flakey one I found with the multimeter straight away and corrected within 2 minutes.
The cables are incredibly quick to confection, it's fun too. I would say that key is to use a very sharp knife and to ensure that the cut is as near perpendicular to the cable as you can get. If there's any screwness to the cut just trim off a sliver of the cable to get it right. Do use a multimeter to test your cable for open or short circuits before applying it to the board.

The connectors are very low profile and are not microphonic. The cable is thin, flexible and has a very low capacitance. I think I measured something like 130 pF/meter but as it's been a while ago now please don't quote me on that. The audio transmission is certainly very transparent and I've detected no pre-buffer, high frequency loading of the signal. It's a joy to route with such cable.
Now many will say that soldered connections are more robust and reliable and I'd agree with them. I can't say how robust these mechanical connections are or will be with time. Right now they feel good. I would not chose to use this cable and solder-free connections for an instrument cable (although in a pinch it would probably do the job fine). And to be honest I don't know whether I could find a right angled solderable connector with this low a profile.

But right now there's so much right about using this kit for your own custom patch cables. The price is right and the quality feels like more than you pay for (just ignore the supplied tools). So right now, highly recommended. Should I have any future problems I'll update this review.

Snip, Twist, Lock & Go!

So I didn't want unnecessary loops of cable both looking untidy & bringing in signal loss... enter the Harley Benton Solder-Free Patch Cable KIT.
No Faffing, just measure, cut, twist into place then tighten the locking screw and your done (I admit to cautiously testing each cable before fixing into place but who wants to pull up 10 pedals to find the one cable that you didn't check?).
Low profile right angle plugs & made to measure cables at a better price than a selection of those hideous moulded patch cables.
Seems Too Good to be true... Well these are Good and it Is True!
Look great, sound great & with Thomanns great price. Boom!

AM
Good but don't use the provided cutter
Andy McCoy 12.05.2025
The cable is a bit stiff and plastic coated, so not the best option. As expected, the included tools in HB products are always rubbish. The product itself works for home use but don't use the provided wire cutter. It won't make a clean cut and therefore the assembled cable will always shortcut the circuit. Use good quality wire cutters, or better, good and sharp scissors. Inspect the both ends of wire, push firmly in place (don't do any turns with plug) and tighten the screw.
