A
Rickenbacker on a Budget
Anonymous 23.10.2016
This guitar looked interesting (a Rickenbacker style guitar at a fraction of the price).

As usual the guitar arrived promptly and was well packed.

Out of the box this guitar probably wasn't as instantly to my liking (in terms of playability) as other Harley Benton guitars have been. I did have to spend a bit of time setting this guitar up. Having spent a bit of time working on the set up I can't honestly say that I am still happy wit things.

The guitar sounds ok, but not that special. So I'm a little disappointed I guess. However, this isn't a bad guitar. You have to consider the price. The guitar is a lovely size and feels very comfortable to hold. Nicely styled. I am just not that impressed with the tonal range and variation in pick ups. All things considered I will keep the guitar and maybe change the pick ups at some point.

Having bought a couple of other Harely Benton Guitars I had no hesitation in making another purchase. The Harley Benton guitars are excellent value for money, well made and very playable. The only fault I ever find with them is that they all (all the models I have purchased) have minor cosmetic flaws. The finish is never quite perfect.

d
great instrument, with slight caveats.

the scale length (24.75") on the rb-600 makes it struggle with drop tunings quite a bit. the neck finish is glossy and actually quite sticky. i tend to practice tapping and fast play so it's not ideal, you might like this sort of thing if you're into vintage guitars though.

the pickups are suprisingly muddy, even with the tone rolled all the way up. you might need an EQ pedal or you could fix the muddiness in post if you're recording the guitar.

suprisingly, this thing doesn't stay in tune perfectly. it could be because of the plastic nut, which is a bit of a bummer. harley benton offers bone nuts on their other guitars in this price range but for some reason not on this one.

but none of this means that this is a bad instrument! if you really like vintage rickenbackers but don't want to pay a cosmic price, this is a great alternative. i just found that it isn't exactly "my perfect guitar" after a few months of playing.

G
Way smaller than you'd think
GDecl 14.10.2019
If you're a fan of 'RB' guitars and want an affordable one, then I imagine you bumped into this one. However, I would check for videos or images of people holding it... It is WAY smaller than you'd think! That might be a good thing but I can imagine a lot of 'RB' would expect it to be as big as the others. It sounds okay but it does the job. It's a bang for the buck if you want a semi hollow body guitar with an 'RB' vibe!
