This design gives the player a higher string tension on the lower strings to provide greater control even when harder picking techniques are used, while the shorter scale length on the upper strings means that string bends can still be played without straining the player's fretting hand. The two pickups are governed by simple but effective circuitry comprising a three-way blade switch and a master control each for volume and tone. In terms of hardware, the R-458MN WH MultiScale features a fixed DLX bridge with eight individual saddles and a set of deluxe diecast machine heads to ensure reliable tuning stability.
