I purchased this bass for a few major reasons:
One: The natural color with black pickguard/maple fretboard with black inlays looks good, and even better in person.
Two: Not only is it a P bass/Music Man pickup combo, but it's a *reverse* P Bass configuration, which I very much prefer.
Three: It was, with shipping, less than 500 usd. Buying a new entry-level bass at a brick and mortar store would end up costing me more and have less features I like.
Now I didn't expect it to have the parts and playability of an instrument that cost 10 times it's price, and with that in mind this thing has exceeded all my expectations. There was zero fret sprout, intonation was good, action was ok (I prefer my strings lower, but no fault to the setup tech for my preference), the neck is thinner than I expected, and the electronics sounded surprisingly good, even better when considering the price point. It does also have a bit of weight to it, and some neck dive to keep in mind.
I did swap a lot out due to personal preferences and parts I had laying around, however this thing would be great for a starter or someone who wants a modding platform on an instrument with looks and a pickup configuration you don't ever see.
Bone stock this thing was better than it has any right to be and punches far above it's weight (I said the thing!). Put a new preamp into it and pickups of your choice and this thing is a beast.
For reference, I put in a Nordstrand 2 band preamp, Sandberg Black Label pickups, black hardware (bb404 bridge, fyi), and Hipshot HB1 tuners (2x holes needed to be filled and new ones drilled in this scenario); and after that it's my go-to for using a 4 string.
