extra drill holes
adam clark 09.08.2022
in the neck pocked i have 6 drill holes 1 they cocked up and put it in the wrong place then tried correcting it by drilling it in the correct place but stopped as the tip of the drill just got through the back and didn't finish it because it was too close to the badly drilled hole that they didn't fill the 6th hole is the unnecessary big one in the middle of the neckpocket im guessing they used for the cnc (invest in a vacuum plate) all the drill holes that go from the pickup cavities to the electronics cavity have all been drilled to far and have hit the other side of the electronics cavity , the wood was good but that was about it if this got past qc I'm am never touching Benton guitars again

P
Every pre drilled hole is wrong. No QC???
Paul592 06.01.2021
FYI: All my points here are to do with the body. As soon as I removed the bubble wrap my face dropped.

One of the predrilled holes which is supposed to hold the bridge plate in place is totally burst out into the bridge pickup cavity, making it totally useless as a screw hole. This is the most aggregious flaw by far.

The scratchplate drill holes don't even remotely line up with themselves and are in a really bad position for the scratchplate to begin with.

The routing is a complete mess with A LOT of burst grain ends inside every cavity but the neck pickup. Maybe the lad in the factory in China was having a bad day when he did this body but there was ZERO care put into it. This is fairly minor and can be fixed with a chisel and some care, but I didn't expect it to be THIS BAD.

Maybe I just got a real lemon here and you might be fine, but this means there is ZERO quality control. At least it was only 85 euro, and may still make a fun project for lockdown if I can figure out how to fix all the problems, but damn I'm so disappointed with how this body was done. I wish I could share photos in my review cos its really really bad.

Rubbish

I was very unhappy with this kit and the response I had from Thomann Customer Service.

The Manual in the box was the wrong Manual.

The neck did not fit the pickguard which suggests the wrong neck is in the box.

All in all I would avoid this product especially as Customer Service do not want to know.

T
Cheap
Thomalom 24.03.2021
It's quite cheap, and thats very impressive, but I can see easliy why. After tinkering with it and assembling it I wish it was only the body and neck. Pre-drilled holes are not aligned with pickguard, potguards or jack plate..
The screws I got were all in 1 bag, and I am 99% sure I got more of 1 screw and less of another screw. Also 2 screws broke .. while using hand strength.
Massive fretsprout / sharp edges on the frets that NEEDS to be filed down. Cut myself while feeling it for the first time.
I can't say much about the pickups or soundpots as I bought Seymour Duncans and some more expensive quality pots.
It was fun and interesting to start with but I will never assemble another guitar. Been there done that as they say.
