Harley Benton DS-10 Mini

So I decided to get this thing for my kid as his first acoustic.
He's 7 and loves everything guitar.
I figured this would be good for a beginner and thought it looked beautiful on the site, so I got it.

Came nicely packed, box in a bigger box to protect it from damage and arrived right before Christmas so great timing too.
I was pleasantly surprised, not against low expectations, but this is a great instrument for a beginner, for kids, and for anyone really.
It's light but holds together very well, has a clean bright sound and bigger than you would expect to come from its small body. That puts a big smile on my kid's face! On mine too!
Action is a little high but he likes it that way and that's nothing that can't be fixed with very little effort anyway if you like it lower.
Tuners work okay and tuning holds well.
The matte finish is beautiful and it really feels nice to the touch.
There are few minor things but not even worth mentioning and most related to personal style and preference that can be easily fixed or adjusted.
I've seen way more serious issues with way more expensive instruments so you can't go wrong with this one.

Overall I think is a great little guitar, big bang for the buck, and I'm thinking of getting one myself. I always thought no barbecue or campfire feels right without the ol' strummin' and this one's great for the road.

When I thought about a Traveler Guitar I did my research. Small guitar the size of this charming Mini DS-10 it have been used by famous guitar players in the world such as Sting, Dave Matthews, Ed Sheeran, Lindsey Buckingham, Richard Durrant etc. Besides the price was so tempting and unbeatable, it would have been silly no to get one for just a try. The guitar is very practical for transportation. Considering the size of it body, the guitar has a very pleasant, mellow and peculiar sound in comparison with the “Harley Benton Traveler-E-Steel”, which is even smaller. It is similar size of the Baby Taylor however 4 times less expensive. I confess I did personal adjustments such as I lower the guitar Saddle (Bridge) and the guitar Nut, I also adjusted the neck. I made all of these changing in order to obtain the lower action possible and have a great playability smooth as butter. I liked the guitar and I began to use it since then. I wish the guitar would have install an internal Pickup. The guitar comes with a gig-bag that I wish would had a better cushioning to protect the instrument and it will be a bit bigger. Nevertheless I enjoy the guitar. The intonation is not that accurate. If I recommend it? Yes, I recommend it. I wanted to have a Traveler Acoustic Guitar now I have it, I can NOT complain for the prize I paid.

A friend wanted guitars for his two children who didn’t know a thing about playing but wanted guitars. They were little (6 & 7) . He didn’t want to spend a lot of money in case they didn’t stick with it. I recommended these and they fit the bill. They arrived in 2 or 3 days, and were in good shape. They were packed well, each in its own sturdy cardboard box and they were packed again together in a larger sturdy box. Very good for the money, and much better than unplayable plastic toy guitars one usually finds for beginners in this price range. The necks were strait and I lowered the action and was able to play it. Should the children be disciplined enough to learn a few basic open chords, this should keep them busy until they get a little older and can get a full sized guitar. As always, Thomann’s service was a standout!

I got this because after recent surgery(quintuple heart bypass) I was having difficulty coping with a full size guitar, this has worked out really well as it`s very light and easy to move about with, its such a lovely little instrument! I love tinkering with guitars and have now fitted an under saddle transducer with an Artec M.E2
pre amp that I had in my parts box making it a nice sounding electro acoustic, I popped in a new bone saddle and bone bridge pins when I was at it, the nut was well cut so it stayed. Although it sounded really good as it was.
