2nd time's the charm.
I bought this bass and when it arrived it had a really bad buzz when playing the 1st "fret". But luckily Thomann Support is amazing, and I was sent a brand new one, free of charge, without even having to send the old one back! The new bass plays and sounds amazing. I have had no issues with it so far. The active electronics work as they should. And the black walnut fingerboard is incredibly beautiful!

Not bad...
..but not as amazing as some reviewers suggest.
Not as impressive an instrument as the HB J-Bass for me.
The sound is alright. Hard to set up by comparison.
Still, good value for the money.
Just not an instrument I think I will ever fall in love with.

Most excellent first-time fretless
I bought this as my first foray into fretless and am delighted in all respects. Necessarily my experience with fretless was zero but I changed the strings to flat wound and found it a delight to play. Having read earlier reviews about poor set-up and occasional buzzes, these seemed to have been addressed. The gain is less than on my regular base (so, adjust the volume a notch). My only primary observation is that the plastic bridge seems a bit frail, but does the job. Time will tell. Of course there are superior models but who can quibble with this value for money? Very happy

Good basic 4-string fretless
For the money, could be much worse.
The active treble control does not have much effect (the bass one does) and the rosewood fretboard has some discolouring. To save the fretboard, Thomann should put on kinder original strings (such as Fender 9050Ls), but overall this is a rather playable instrument.
Interested in trying to go fretless - try this one for a start.

Excellent value.
This bass is a bargain. Nice weight and good feel, all I had to do was set it up to my requirements. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a fretless but is on a tight budget.
