I was using hair bands for some time but this accessory is much more nice, easy to use and functional.

I can't live without it now.

M
Great for playing cleanly!
Mez 11.12.2020
I've been using these fret wraps for about 4 years on my 5 string basses and I've buying this one to replace my first one. They're really useful both live and in the studio to keep everything sounding clean when you're playing slap or tapping as they mute the unwanted open strings. I find them particularly useful when playing slap grooves live that I'm having to transpose with wedding bands as I can use it as a false nut (like a capo) to limit my range of notes to what I need to play for the song and it prevents open strings from ringing out when I'm playing a line in a place on the fretboard I'm not use to while having to perform BVs and look like I'm having fun performing. This one is to replace my first one, the velcro has degraded to the point that it no long sticks after years of use - you're going to have to replace them same as strings and picks but hopefully not as often. Worthwhile bit of kit.

Does the job
Dougmelchiades 14.02.2022
it does its job of dampening the strings very well, the lock seems to be of good quality but nothing more to mention, it does the job! thanks Thomann for the fast delivery as always

Great Value.
Io. 24.10.2021
It appears expensive, but after I fitted the MD size to my 5 string bass, I forgot how much it costs. Easy to adjust and remove. It tames the open notes so that you get a sound similar to the fretted ones.

G
they do what they are supposed to do
Guitartron 07.08.2021
I usually leave them near the top of the nut, to cut down on extra noise, sometimes I use them to make me sound cleaner when I am writing a part and want it to sound cleaner. These do the job. I got a new bass so just like a strap I needed a new Gruvgear Fretwrap. Only complaint, if there is one, is after a few years the Velcro gets old and loses its hold, so I have to get a new one. A simple product that does what is advertised, and does it well, thanks

Bought both S and M size for my 4 string and 5 string bass guitars. Craftsmanship looks good. Nothing to complain! Bought 'em at 50% discount so price was fine too!

Does exactly what you want
Mark Camp 07.11.2020
I use this on my seven string to get rid of the unnecessary ringing out of strings beyond the nut and also to help mute lower strings when tracking solos/lead playing.

I will say they may seem to be a little expensive for what they are but it definitely beats tying an old sock around your headstock looks wise.

A
My left Hand
Alan166 28.07.2017
I bought this because of something my guitar teacher said about practising just using your left hand to build up muscle memory and independence .
For this you need to mute the open strings . My teacher has headless guitars and uses a hair band . Ok for headless , but not if you use a widow head stocked BC Rich Warlock . This worked great on the Warlock ,also the Beast and a naked Venus Faith electric/acoustic , and also the Lag black shadow I use as my main guitar. It worked on my Ibanez S420 but being slightly smaller would better to use a small Fret wrap. It is easy to use and does what it was designed for .Plus easier to use than a hair band . If this is something you might try get one .
