Great upgrade
episg 09.05.2017
Replaced the stock tuners on an Epiphone SG Special with these Gotoh locking tuners and was really impressed by the result. Great quality. The tuning stability has increased significantly, fine tuning is a lot easier and quicker now and restringing is much faster.

(A note for the specific guitar model (Made in Indonesia, Epiphone SG Special 2010): the stock tuners have the mounting screws placed diagonally, so you need to place the new tuners and drill pilot holes for the new mounting screws. Also the peg holes in this guitar are 8mm diameter. The Gotoh bushings that are included are 8.8mm. So, you either need to ream a bit the peg holes or leave the stock bushings.)

Ideal vintage style lockers
Rids 19.01.2018
Gotoh make excellent quality machine heads and these are no exception. They fit vintage style Gibson?s with the smaller holes so don?t order if you have modern 10mm holes. The key stone is a really good colour unlike some other brands attempts. They look just like vintage style klussons but have the advantage of a locking mechanism which is a little strange the first time you restring your instrument as they lock by winding the key rather than having a wheel or other more common ways of locking. Once your tuned up they remain stable and hold tuning really well. I feel that these tuners are excellent quality and value

Aesthetically and functionally amazing
Anonymous 10.02.2015
I fitted these to a Tokai Japanese Les Paul. The guitar was a clone of the gibson 59 VOS and consequently i did not want to destroy the look of the guitar by adding any extra holes or non period correct tuners. This left me with one choice, these excellent Gotoh magnum lock tuners.

The tuners were very easy to install, they slotted right into the holes left by the elusion style tuners already in the guitar. They covered all of the same space on the back of the headstock and were indistinguishable form the tuners they replaced. Locked them up is easy and they maintain tuning stability with ease. all told i am very happy with the and heartily recommend them to anyone in a similar situation.

Best locking tuners/patent
Alfi27 29.01.2024
I'm a huge fan of this style of tuners, and have the Magnum Lock patent on all my guitars now. Standard locking tuners are heavier and ugly (if you're going for a somewhat vintage correct look) with the locking wheel on the back, which also is a potential source of failure if you don't tighten it enough (or too much).

These are the same weight as non-locking tuners, and the only difference in look is the slot on top of the post and the fact that the string is not wound several rounds around the post.

Shortly summarised, perfect tuning stability and much quicker/more efficient string changes with minimal aesthetic changes, what is there not to like? Price is also impeccable, last but not least.

Massive improvement.
Anonymous 15.04.2014
I bought these to replace the stock machines on my Les Paul, which had problems holding its tuning. What a difference! Apart from being so much quicker to re-string, they really stabilise the tuning. Some nut lubricant helps too. The Les Paul has now become my guitar of choice because I'm confident that it won't go out of tune.

Gotoh all the way.
Anonymous 16.05.2014
Bought these to replace the tuners on my Orville LP Standard. Identical specification, drop in and perfect fit. Great quality product, I have found that Gotoh is my brand, preferred over a Schaller and even more so than Grovers. More solid and stable in my opinion.

First time for locking tuners for me, very handy to change strings. Recommended for those that have not developed a proper wrap technique, or those that could not be bothered to learn.

Funky greenish pegs set them off.

Great Standard Kluson Replacements
Anonymous 18.01.2015
These are an ideal replacement for the standard Kluson vintage tuners as found on many guitars - Les Paul, SG etc and are an easy DIY fit.

They do come with there own bushings as well so make so you tap out the old ones with the tool provided. A word of warning here - also make sure they fit your guitar as you really you don't want to be drilling/reaming out your headstock.

The advantage these have over other locking tuners is they look like normal tuners and don't add any significant size or weight.

They do the job very well and make restringing the whole guitar much quicker.

I will buy sets of these for my other guitars at some point.

well these were a shock to me when I saw them, they look vintage, but are lockable and modern feeling and performing perfectly. Staying in tune has never looked so cool!

Perfect retro fit.
ibis 17.03.2014
Replaced Kluson-style tuners on my PRS SE Bernie Marsden.
Easy to change strings and allows detuning without unlocking. Not so green as some (good thing). VERY easy to fit.
