It is a knob

A plastic knob, in light creme colour, much lighter than on the picture. I see no difference (other than the colour) between this one, and the ones from Gibson, Thomann or DiMarzio. It's a piece of plastic, man! :)

It'll work on most guitars. But depending on the model you might need to put some paper inside so it won't move with the use, or glue it down. Good option in case you need some spare parts or if you want to mod your guitar.
