The quality went down over the years
I've been using Fast Fret for a few years now, not so much for cleaning but for ease of play. The problem is, some time ago the manufacturer decided to cut costs: they went from metal to thin plastic packaging, they changed the applicator from cloth-like to something a la solid paste. As a result, it's easy to apply way too much of the substance and spill it over the fretboard. Also, I'm pretty sure they changed the lubricant ingredients too, because I got some sort of allergy developed to it. My hands got calluses not only at my fingertips (from playing), but also along the fingers and on the palms, and they hurt quite a bit. The effect subsided a month or two after I stopped using it.
I recommend looking for a different product.

I don't like that oil feel on my fingers,,, so i remove it after 2 days,,, also head leaves small parts on strings, you need to clean all that from strings after apply...

Used to love it
I've never "needed" it to play, but have used it for 20+ years. The packaging has become more and more cheap over the years. Came not in the tin can buy in a clear plastic tube with a printed label inside showing through. Wooden handle is gone and is now plastic. The applicator is now smaller. Worst of all it seems the formula is now different or I got a bad item. Bone dry before 2 months! I've had these last for years in the past.

sticky strings
Leaves the strings with a sticky feeling. Will probably be using it on guitars that are rarely played, to protect the strings from oxidation.
Smells very nice.

What’s the point
Used as stated in the instruction, in only made my fingerboard and strings full of material of which it is made. Would not recommend.

does the job, a few times
Runs out really fast, and doesn't work very well. Leaves a lot of tiny hairs on the strings.

pointless
I think this stuff is really just snake oil, just gets lots of little fibers stuck in my string windings and doesn't really clean the strings any better than a slightly damp cloth would.

Fretboard feels sticky
I used it on a rosewood fretboard (it is not suitable for maple fretboards) and although it feels clean at first, it starts feeling sticky after a while. Might be my fingers.
