I feed digital signals to 8331s from my PC through a USB digital interface. To preserve dynamic range, I only use the knob to control volume in the digital domain.
Pros:
The knob is heavy so I can control volume with just a finger.
Cons:
It has no step and it would slide occasionally for 0.1-0.5 db. To have a fixed volume level, you may save current level to GLM.
The knob does its job but it will be better if come with a mute button.

Good but not great
I wanted to get the volume controler so I don't have to reach for the mixer volume fader every time.
It's pretty robust.
The metal parts when you turn the know seems to be rubbing each other which is not a big deal but it could be more smooth for it's price.
The volume also has a certain latency (atleast in my case) and it takes a few miliseconds for the volume to reach desired position.
If you need something that's within a hand'ss reach I would recommend it.
