The Genelec 8030 RAW is an active two-way studio monitor that delivers the first-class sound producers the world over have come to expect from the Finnish manufacturer. With its housing produced from raw die-cast aluminium, this model features two separate amplifiers with a total output of 100W, driving the 5" woofer and 3/4" tweeter to deliver sound pressure levels of up to 110dB SPL per stereo pair. In addition to its automatic start function, this speaker also allows the frequency response to be adjusted to the room's acoustic conditions. A balanced XLR input allows signals to be fed in without interference, while a protective circuit prevents driver damage by intercepting short-term level peaks. However, this model does not include magnetic shielding.

Impressive range of features

With a frequency range from 54Hz to 20kHz, the Genelec 8030 RAW delivers impressive low-end performance for a compact monitor. To achieve this, the speaker uses bass reflex technology, which maximises low-frequency sound pressure and extends the driver transmission range. For adjustment to room conditions, the bass frequencies can be reduced by either -2dB or -4dB with this model, or rolled off completely. The treble levels can also be reduced by -2dB. When the monitor is placed on a reflective surface, activating the Desktop Control function helps prevent frequencies between 160 and 200Hz from becoming overly pronounced. The (deactivatable) automatic start function detects whether a signal is present and automatically switches the amplifier unit on as required. This makes the speaker easy to operate and helps save energy.

Anyone looking for a monitor speaker with a flat frequency response and a spacious, three-dimensional sound will not be disappointed with the Genelec 8030 RAW. As this device does not include a volume control, it is best suited to studio setups where the listening level is adjusted via an external monitor controller. If playback remains consistently too loud or too quiet, the speaker's sensitivity can be adjusted using a small rotary control. A Genius Space Booster

The Genelec 8030 Raw feels so solid, that it could travel around the world even without a box. The sound quality is a high detailed canvas, where all the strokes are visible and clear.

They are great designed and look awesome in any space I took them. To me, they do their best job with table stands, it makes everything
presence and real.

Wow: So ein brillant klarer, räumlich perfekt auflösender Klang! Selbst die Bässe kommen hinreichend satt und lassen einen Subwoofer eigentlich überflüssig werden. Ich habe das 8030-Paar trotzdem auch mit einem 7050 ausprobiert, aber transparenter wird der Klang dadurch nicht. Mit viel Geduld bei der Einstellung der Parameter (insbesondere Phase und Roll-Off) und vor allem Positionierung kann sicher noch etwas herausgeholt werden, aber ohne Einmess- und Fernbedienungsoption sollte der Aufwand nicht unterschätzt werden (ein Stern Abzug dafür bei den Features).

Die Größe der 8030 ist gerade noch schreibtischverträglich.

Zum Abschluss zum nackten Finish der RAW-Version: Naja, muss nicht sein! Der zurzeit noch ungewohnte "Nude-Look" ist den Mehrpreis nicht wert. Das bisschen weniger Umweltbelastung durch die vermiedene Lackierung ist auch kein richtig starkes Argument bei einer Anschaffung, die eh sicher sehr nachhaltig sein wird.

Dieser Punkt ist aber am Ende auch egal und schnell vergessen! Die beiden Genelecs können allein vom Hören süchtig machen.

Sorprende... Un peldaño mas

Acabo de instalar hace unos días los 8030RAW junto con un SUB 7040
Los 8030RAW por si solos son un peldaño más que los de entrada de JBL y Yamaha que tenia instalados antes.
Graves con pegada, medios definidos y agudos definidos pero nada estridentes.
Muchos estaréis pensando que los RAW son demasiado crudos …Pero cuando los ves, piensas que así deberían verse. Son monitores de aluminio (nada de MDF pintado) ¿Por qué no mostrar la calidad en crudo y de diseño moderno y elegante?
Yo había analizado previamente mis DOS puntos de escuchas principales y sabia que ajustes realizar (anteriormente tenía un EQ para esta función). Me fije en los interruptores DIP de los Genelec y pensé que eran justo lo que hacía con mi vieja EQ.
Para mi segundo punto de escucha principal, necesitaría un refuerzo de graves. Pensé en el pequeño SUB 7040 y tuve muchas dudas por su supuesta poca potencia…
Cuando lo instale con mis 8030 y puse la ganancia a la mitad, se eliminaron todas mis dudas.
Llena de sobra una habitación de 11m cuadrados. Ahora ajustado todo tengo casi la atenuación máxima del SUB a unos +8dB !!! Me sobra potencia.
Toda la configuración son un peldaño más de calidad final en sonido y unos cuantos peldaños en cuanto a calidad de construcción. El control de toda la mi configuración se realizó combinando los interruptores DIP y las ganancias de los tres Genelec. E incluso el EQ que me ayudaba en la anterior configuración lo he retirado!
Solo puedo recomendarlo. Vale cada euro.

Précis et large spectre

Achetée pour remplacer des moniteurs d'entrée de gamme (Presonus Eris E5) et la différence est bluffante. Les aigus sont moins criards et plus précis, globalement la précision d'écoute est largement supérieure, ces enceintes permettent d'entendre des détails que je ne pouvais pas imaginer auparavant. Leur spectre est étonnamment large, elles descendent assez loin dans les graves et pourraient presque être utilisées sans sub suivant l'application.
Je les utilise avec un sub Presonus Temblor T10, qui n'est certes pas de la même gamme, mais l'ensemble reste cohérent et efficace.

La finition RAW est originale par rapport à ce qu'il se fait d'habitude pour le matériel studio, c'est agréable d'avoir des textures et des patterns différents sous les yeux. Le rendu "naturel" est très réussi.

La LED verte sur la façade de l'enceinte n'est pas dérangeante, elle est suffisamment peu puissante pour être ignorée, même lorsque la luminosité ambiante est basse.
