Excellent pair of pickups for metal players
I have been using the standard EMG 81/85 set for years in all of the guitars that I own or have owned and I was very happy with them for the longest time. After having purchased a Harley Benton guitar (which plays and feels awesome) I decided to upgrade the rather cheap pickups and switch them out with this EMG Het Set. A huge difference, ofcourse. But having played the standard set for years I definitely feel these sound a lot more organic and ballsy.
I love the looks of these pickups aswell, a sort of brushed aluminum look that fits heavy guitars.
Although they are a bit more expensive than the regular 81/85 set, I definitely recommend trying these out!

Own the 'Middle' Ground!
These are superb for punch your mids to another level - upgraded my ESP MX250 with these, and the now 25 year old guitar has gained a new life and I love it again - output is clearly less than an 81, but where these lead the line is in width of sound.

Not Just for Metal
Bought these to replace the EMG 81/60 in my ESP FX Standard.
The finish is great, bought these over a year ago and still look like new. As these have quick connect wires they are easy to install.
Sound is close to 81/60 but they do seem to be more open sounding. I find them to be more versatile, rolling the volume back can bring you closer to a classic rock sound compared to the 81/60.
