The Cajon offers incredibly powerful sound, brilliant highs and extremely sensitive and pleasant snare system - pure dynamics! Compared to the standard, Cajon Chanela uses double the number of strings, and a sound which is very close to a snare drum is achieved. Using special Velcro, very low string tension enabling greater control over unwanted buzz and a long string life is made possible.

I wanted something suitable across styles, that could especially be played at lower volumes. I tried about 20 different cajons, from different brands, and this is the one that caught my ear. The string-snare mechanism is well-designed and thought out, and easily adjustable. Price-wise I think that this is spot-on. More expensive cajons are hard to justify and cheaper cajons can (not always) just sound unmusical.

Pros - nice bass, not too heavy, not too much sustain. Sensitive snare, easily adjustable to your liking. Nice, simple finish.
Cons - none really.

At the end of the day, its the time you put into studying the instrument that counts, but I feel I'm off to a good start with this baby!

An extremely, good cajon! Excellent bass sweet spot, and great snare sound! The tuning mechanism is easy to use, and the velcro strips across the strings work well. Once you've tuned it to your liking, it sounds superb! The front panel (tapa), has got a nice feel to it, with a slight bit of give which, results in those lovely, smooth, bass tones.👌The build quality, is all so very good, and has a nice finish to it. For a medium priced cajon, it's extremely good! ......you can't go wrong! It's an excellent instrument!👌👍

Super cajon, acheté en écoutant des samples sur youtube et thomann, je ne suis pas déçu à l'arrivée, un cajon qui sonne, de belles basses bien rondes, des aigus bien claquants sans "buzz" et une finition très esthétique. Il me semblait moins sombre sur les photos toutefois. Je ne regrette pas mon achat ;)

Eigener Sound! (Ein Vergleich mit Schlagwerk CP432 deluxe Makassar)

Ich hab das De Gregorio für meinen Sohn gekauft. Dabei hab ich bewusst darauf geachtet, eine andere Bauweise als mein eigenes Schlagwerk 2inone Deluxe Makassar zu nehmen, da ich einfach eine deutliche Sound-Alternative im Haus haben wollte. Die Unterschiede zwischen beiden Instrumenten sind deutlich. Während das Schlagwerk einen eher charakteristischen Snare-Sound mit klarer Snare-Bass-Trennung besitzt und damit analytischer und differenzierter klingt, geht das De Gregorio eher in die klassische Peru-Cajon-Richtung. Beim Schlagwerk bedarf es schon einiger Erfahrung und Übung die gewünschten Sounds zu erzeugen. Das De Gregorio spielt sich meiner Ansicht nach leichter und wirkt insgesamt musikalischer. Die Snare-Bass-Trennung ist nicht ganz so stark ausgeprägt. Der Bass-Sound klingt sehr resonant. Spielt man die Rückseite des De Gregorio, hat man einen tollen Conga-artigen Sound ohne Snare. Dazu muss man die Snare-Funktion nicht abschalten (das muss ich bei dem 2inone extra machen). Dieser trockene Sound verleiht dem De Gregorio eine große Vielseitigkeit im Einsatz.
Wenn ich ein Cajon-Drumset aufbaue, um ein normales Drumset mit einem Cajon zu ersetzen, und das ganze über Mikros abnehme, dann würde ich das Schlagwerk nehmen. Das klingt eher nach Drumset. Für Unplugged-/Akustik-Sessions, Lagerfeuer und auch für weniger erfahrene Spieler/Anfänger etc. würde ich das De Gregorio nehmen.
Die Verarbeitung, der Look und die Haptik des DeGregorio sind spitze.
