Flats from daddario 45-100
charles the bassist 27.10.2020
These are good flatwounds.

On the musicman stingray:

First the G string slipped from the tuning peg on first installation, which I managed to recover...
Sound is good and deep, retains some higher mids which is nice as apposed to Labella. Tension however is high, nothing surprising with flats but be mindful.
Neck relief reset might be necessary. Though not as high as rotosounds flats.
They have a matt grey look which isn't as cool as Labella, Thomastik,... Which are shinier.
After 3 months, the E string core slipped, causing the E string to buzz and loose sustain and fundamental note.

On my Ibanez SR 5 string, with Nordstrand pickups:

The blue silk winding at the ball end is a bit long and went over the saddle, so had to remove part of it.

Sound is really really good with this bass though.

As it's a hot, bright punchy bass, these flats just work nicely with it...

OVERALL: Good strings that don't have tons of character, so they work well with a very punchy bass, to tame it maybe...

Sound isn't anything special for me. If anything, it sounds maybe too dull for my taste.

Lasts forever.

As I am just experimenting with different brands and types of flat wounds it was obvious that I also had to order a set of these to try them. When I put them on my P Bass I was surprised how roundwoundish they sounded. Sound is always hard to explain but there was much more treble and bright tone than I expected. Of course they can´t keep up with a round wound string when it comes to brightness but they definitely have more treble than other flat wound strings. Depends on our taste if you like it, I myself do not. But after playing them 6 weeks or so, they lost a bit of their brightness. The feel for me is a little too rough, I think I might go for Flats with a more classic sound, smoother feel and maybe a little lower tension.
