A compact digital piano

front of the digital piano Casio CDP-S110 BK

The CPD-S110 digital piano was launched in January 2022 as an addition to Casio's CPD-S series and comes with an improved sound and new features compared to its predecessor. The CPD-S110's compact design means that it will fit easily into any space and can also be transported easily. This piano has a 64-note polyphony, and ten essential tones are also on board that offer a variety of sounds, all of which can be enhanced with reverb or one of four chorus effects. The sound is delivered by two onboard speakers with an output of eight watts each. All in all, the CPD-S110 will prove to be a comfortable and easy-to-play practice instrument.

A wide palette of expression

With its 88 keys and scaled hammer action, the CPD-S110 resembles the keyboard of a real grand piano, with simulated ebony and ivory keys to prevent slippage caused by perspiration. The ten onboard tones include various grand piano and electric piano sounds and can also be layered for even more tonal freedom, thus providing a rich variety of options for musical expression. The behaviour of the sounds played is also affected by how hard the keys are played and by their duration. Put it all together and you have a range of additional features that allow significantly more expressive and dynamic playing. The scope of delivery includes a sheet music holder as well as a sustain pedal, which can be connected via the rear panel.

A slimline piano for beginners

The CPD-S110 is designed with a clear layout and is aimed at those who are just starting out on the digital piano. Since it has the right number of keys, it can also serve as a point of entry for those who aspire to play a real grand piano one day. The piano's high-density assembly technology allows for a space-saving internal structure with miniaturised components, resulting in a body depth of just 232mm. This digital piano can either run on AA batteries or using the included mains power adapter, so you can practise in every conceivable situation - in your own garden, for example - and even silently thanks to the headphone jack, perfect for late at night. A white version of the CDP-S110 is also available.

About Casio

The Japanese company Casio was founded in 1946 and initially became famous for its electronic calculators and wristwatches. The company released its first electronic musical instrument back in 1980, since which several decades of experience have poured into the production of keyboards, synthesizers, and digital pianos, including classics such as the CZ synth series and the digital pianos of the Celviano and Privia series. Casio's core corporate philosophy is to contribute to society through its creative products.

Practice made perfect

The CPD-S110 is equipped with a metronome that can be set from 22 to 255 BPM. The rear panel also features an audio input, which can be used to connect and play along to music from external sources via the CPD-S110's inbuilt speakers. MIDI data can be transmitted via the piano's USB port, which can be connected to a DAW using a suitable USB cable for recording software instruments (compatible with Mac OS X 10.5 and Windows 7 or later). The CPD-S110 can also be operated remotely via the free Chordana Play app, which allows settings such as sound, keyboard touch sensitivity, and metronome to be changed, and the Casio Music Space app is also available for playing along to digital scores and for interactive music playback.

Very satisfied.

Nice and minimal piano, with keys convenient for pianists, with gravity-centered keys. Needs just a little space and you can connect it to your pc for recording or for instrument session. No more clipping sound or environment noise.

For me it's just perfect. I love the feel, the shape and the sound of it. I like the different patches but I mostly use grand piano as I am learning. Highl;y recommend as starting piano

n
My thoughts on Casio CDP-S100
niQ44 21.10.2023
A few words about this keyboard. The touch is amazing. If it weren’t for the plastic keys, it would feel like I’m playing on a real piano. The sound is pretty good. One complaint I do have though, if I directly connect my headphones to the keyboard, the sound quality is pretty low and not very loud (even on max volume). But, if you connect it with MIDI on your computer and use sounds of your DAW, the sound and feel is incredible. For its price, it’s an amazing keyboard for practice and even gigs.

K
Probably the best for the price
Kikodasneves 19.03.2024
Pros:
Super lightweight and slim, looks great
Keys feel great (they are textured to imitate wood)
Good built-in sounds, good speakers

Cons:
The audio out is mini jack, which is not very handy for me. I’d prefer it had regular jack out.
