It?s amazing how such a simple device is able to alter the sound characteristics of the snare drum so drastically. It doesn?t only suppress the overtones, it makes the snare sound completely different, with a thick and deep sound. It has the power to make my piccolo snare sound like it is 6 or 7 inch deep. It sits quietly on the top of the drumhead and, since it has a large hole in the center, the feel of the sticks over the drumhead remains the same. It?s a very effective and simple way to change the sound of the snare drum without the need to alter its tuning.

Looking for big, fat 70's snare tones? You need this!
Perfect on my lively metal snares, this removes all overtones, reduces the pitch of the drum, and gives that classic fat and thick snare familiar from those 70's recordings.
Good quality and has a nice weight to it, so no risk of it somehow coming off the drum in use.
This is the "donut" version, meaning it has a hole of several inches in the center, so it doesn't interfere with how your sticks feel on the drumhead.
Would buy again if needed. Fantastic!

Very usefull, nice sonic effect.
Product does what it says. Goes with me on all the gigs now. The material can relatively easy be 'crackled', which makes it work less well, so be careful during transport.

Makes my snare sound huge!
This is perfect for both live and in the studio because it removes all of the unwanted tones while fattening up the sound. I've tried it on a couple of my snares and they all sound amazing.

Lovely thick sound.
Very cost effective. I sold my wooden snare drum as a consequence. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend that to more discriminating players than myself, but not a bad compromise.

Transforms your snare
Does what it says: allows you to instantly turn a high pitched snare into a fat 70's beast. I use it to switch from a timbale-style highly pitched roots-reggae snare sound to a fat 80's style dub snare sound in seconds, just by slapping on the Donut. Love it.

I'm leaving the review for my drummer. He loves it - it serves it intended purpose.

I've used an upside down cut out drum head for this purpose for years, but gave in and bought this to try it out. Not only does it feel more 'proper' and better made, i find it sounds better too, less harsh. With the donut hole in the middle, you don't lose the stick attack or rebound, so it feels much better too. Less slappy.
Would recommend.
