The KeyLab goes mini

With the MiniLab 3, shown here in its black incarnation, Arturia has taken the portable version of its KeyLab keyboard range to the next level by introducing a huge update with lots of new features to the MiniLab concept. The new transport function for controlling the DAW and the arpeggiator and chord mode in particular set the MiniLab3 apart from its predecessor, which now also features a small display and a clickable browser knob for even easier preset navigation through the included Analog Lab Intro software. In addition to the 25 keys and a touch-sensitive pitch bend and modulation wheel, the MiniLab 3 now comes with eight assignable encoders, four faders, and eight velocity-sensitive drum pads for controlling MIDI-compatible software such as Ableton, Analog Lab, and many others. The streamlined design and metal-reinforced construction in turn make the MiniLab3 the perfect controller when out and about.

All-out portability

As part of Arturia's KeyLab series, the MiniLab 3 provides a compact and portable version of the popular keyboard controller. Just like its bigger brothers, it features seamless DAW integration by default, such as for Ableton, and an impressive range of software synth presets. The infinitely variable encoders and the new faders are ideal for controlling various parameters, as they do not cause parameter jumps like standard encoders do. Users can now select the desired presets via the new browser knob, which shows information about the currently used parameters and presets via a display on the controller itself. Intuitive operation combined with a compact yet robust design invites anyone to let their creative juices flow, even when they are not in the studio.

More than an entry-level controller

The easy integration of the MiniLab 3 in combination with the versatile software package makes this controller the perfect entry-level choice for use in productions and at live gigs. With two outstanding piano emulators made by UVI and Native Instruments, Arturia's proprietary Analog Lab Intro software suite, an Ableton Live Lite licence, and included subscriptions for Melodics and Loopcloud, this package includes everything users need to start creating professional productions. Those seeking to use the controller for other purposes can tailor the controller's functions to their individual needs using the Arturia MIDI Control Center, and thanks to the new MIDI interface, the MiniLab 3 can now also directly control hardware synthesizers.

About Arturia

Arturia's success story began with software emulations of well-known analogue synthesizers such as the Moog Minimoog, Sequential Prophet-5, and Oberheim SEM. The popular software instruments included in the V Collection are still flagship products of the French developer today. Over time, Arturia has gradually expanded its range and now also offers a host of hardware devices, ranging from synthesizers and keyboard controllers to sequencers. Since then, the former software developer has thus also become a household name in the world of analogue synthesizers and other equipment.

Be creative - anytime, anywhere

The Arturia MiniLab 3's robust and metal-reinforced construction not only provides a space-saving alternative for small studios, it also invites anyone to produce and perform their ideas when not in the studio. Whether it is used for live performances or for inspiring production sessions outdoors, the MiniLab 3 will always serve as the ideal companion. The 25 keys, pleasantly weighted for a keyboard controller of this size, are perfect for quickly and expressively realising musical ideas, no matter where. And thanks to the pedal input on the rear panel, users can also connect sustain pedals for an even more expressive playing style.

Creativity booster!

For a first controller keyboard I must say I'm pretty darn impressed with the Minilab 3... I'm mainly a guitar player with some basic piano background and bought this to lay down some chords and backing tracks on Garageband to play on top with guitar, I wasn't really sure what practical use I would give to the faders and knobs and all the extra stuff that seemed daunting on some reviews. To my surprise after 2 hours of experimenting with it along side Arturia's tutorials I completely rediscovered and fell in love with Ableton Live (Lite 11 is included) and all of its potential as a creative songwriting tool. I also tried it with Garageband and Logic Pro (trial) with great success, but of the bat Live had an awesome integration and the most "hands-on" operation in my opinion, everything is instantly and very intuitively mapped, It's amazing how it frees you up from mouse work and makes you really just play, record, and have a lot of fun! I really liked toggling between banks A and B (shift+pad) for direct clip control with pads or pad drumming, as well as quickly assigning midi channels to different instrument tracks. Transport controls are also there, as well as a great mini screen displaying all the parameters you're adjusting, it makes it feel like a real synthesizer/groovebox. But to me the biggest surprise was Analog Lab, which is AMAZING and available as standalone operation, every instrument parameter is perfectly mapped and instantly available on all the knobs and faders, and the sound libraries are vast and EPIC.
Knobs, faders and keys feel very premium, for the price this is really a great device with a lot of features, and so well designed that it doesn't feel overwhelming. 5 year warranty, eco-friendly packing, now that's great value! Arturia has a new fan!

I have had a really nice experience with minilab 3. I use a lot of arp on my tracks. With the arp mode Minilab has I can get them really fast. Chord mode also very helpful in different situations.
The Analog Lab software included has very nice sound even tho it is not full version.
Very enjoyable mini keyboard!

Great Keyboard for Everyone
merd 09.06.2023
Minilab is a great midi for starters and also for professionals. It's compact and efficient, it is with me all the time. If you have any questions it could be hard to find all answers online because it's new, but in time the community will grow and it's gonna be easier to find solutions. Integration with DAWs is worth mentioning. If you want to learn how to play piano it's gonna be better to consider larger keyboards (37+).
