Simple solution to and expensive problem.
It does exactly what you hope it would do. It sounds almost like an Ampeg. Of course they wouldn't put a full SVT inside a stompbox and sell it at a fraction of the price but it's certainly close enough to get a decent stage sound. All the controls work well to dial in the desired tone, the ultra hi/lo switches are a nice touch too. There is a little background hum when the pedal is on but that's easily covered with a noise gate and it can't be heard while playing.
As always you get what you pay for, if you want a true authentic Ampeg sound then go get an Ampeg amp, but if you're happy to settle for something close for significantly less cost this is your solution.

I used to own a SVT ampeg and it was the Roll Royce of the bass amp to me. When there only couple buttons like treble, bass, medium, volume and gain you can be sure this is a great piece. This pedal now gives you the same kinda feel, it puts some thickness to your instrument. I love it. And a great price too

High quality preamp
Ampeg quality pedal, everything you need from a tube preamp. I feel however that the knobs should be a bit more sturdy, it is very easy to accidentally change your settings because the knobs turn very readily. When the sound passes through the pedal, it feels a bit more "streamlined" than before, sort of like when you pass it through a compressor, it loses some punch, but I personally quite like that.

Gnarly!
I use it in my home studio. Bought if for bass but it also sounds surprisingly nice with electric guitar! Knobs could use a little bit more of resistance. I like the purple diode :)
