Warwick Strings
Cheap bass strings that still sound good.
These strings may very well be the most affordable bass strings that there are, and sure they have their shortcomings: mainly lack of body to the tone (they sound a bit scooped), low durability (compared to my standards and considering my playing technique, that is),
and some kind of rawness to the touch (by that I just mean these are just not silky smooth and soft like some more expensive brands are); but their not that bad either, and especially I like their presence in the higher frequencies.
I consider them to be a very viable option in various situations.
For instance:
These are definitely good for a student, or someone who just play to himself and as such has no need for a particular tone.
These are good for someone who uses a very effected tone, and so is not relying so much on the strings alone.
These are good for someone who plays heavy music, mainly metal, and would go for a scooped sound anyway.
Also could be good for someone who likes to change strings very often to keep the fresh sound and doesn't want to spend a fortune.

Excelent value for money spent
Basic set of strings, nice feeling on the fingers not to rough, it's a good set for rehearsal but not as good for recordings. I use them on my Fender p bass and the sound is great.

My choice for years
I've been a Slinky's and Magma endorser for some years and I've used Red Label NICKELS since those ran out. They last longer than Ernie Ball and I prefer the tone. I just wish they came in a single bag, packaging is EXCESSIVE.
Even tho' they RARELY break, I've noticed an increase in dead strings out of the package (the E string most of all, A a couple times too). Should it happen to you, the DEAD STRING ISSUE IS EASILY SOLVED. Just force a twist on the string when installing it (try one way, try the opposite twist of it doesn't work) and it will go away. I've unnecessarily thrown away those dead strings in the past. Not anymore (thanx to a wise post in the Warwick forums, that's where I got the procedure from).

Poor intonation
Intonation is all over the place with these string. I have now tried 3 sets and the intonation setting on the bass was totally off.

Hmm... Pay more, get better.
Well, I bought these as they were cheap for a second bass I own. They're solid metal, no material at the ends, no aggregation at the ends, just metal. They're quite twangy upon installation, too much high end and almost buzz. I rarely break strings, nearly never. One of these broke after a couple of months. Don't let the Warwick brand fool you, they're cheap for a reason. Save up a wee bit more and get yourself a better pair I'd say.

Great for the price
Keeps its very good tone for a long time. Best value ever for the price. Not too bright a tone in a good way.

DOA
This review is probably an outlier, but I gave a set to my brother, and he said that the ball end had come off before he had even strung it on his L2500.

Good basic strings
I have been using these strings on and off for years, and for the price they can't be beaten. Main pros & cons (based on years of use, not just the latest set I got):
+ Price / quality ratio, can't be beaten
+ Tone is good
+ I've never checked any tension tables in my life, but the stiffness is enough for detuning (one step to D standard) with a normal 34" bass.
+ never broken one, live or otherwise.
- The texture is rougher than for example in D'addario roundwounds, closer to Rotosound in feel (IMHO)
- the brightness will be gone faster than D'addarios, Foderas etc. more expensive strings but I've noticed that this is related to how acidic your hands/sweat is. Mine will kill strings within a month with just moderate playing. So adjust this minus accordingly.

Bassist needs this
Need to change your strings to get a good recording results, and this price is just right for a great bass tone.
