Very useful drawer...
I bought this for installation in to the ProducerRTA studio desk also from Thomann so I could have one main area for some of the more expensive microphones that we use in the studio.
Great quality unit and it fits simply likely in to any 19 rack. I chose this one for the pricing and the fact that it's big enough and lockable.
There is nothing to 'not like' about this rack draw and I certainly would buy again.
Recommended.

Built For The Road
This is simply the best rack drawer I've ever had the pleasure of owning.
It's built like a tank and has such a great looking matte black powder coat (I think that's what it is, if not it's very close to that look) finish it looks at home anywhere.
It slides with ease and allows full acces to the draw, the catch at the front allows for positive fixing and can also be locked if needed.
This is now sitting in the bottom of my BSH Cases shockmounted 12U roadcase and it looks a treat although it's so soild in it's construction it hardly needs the case around it.
I also have a CP Cases 3U drawer which I bought back in the 80's and which cost £60 (an enourmous sum to me back then) and it's pressed steel...this Thon Case looks like it could flatten it if accidentally dropped on it. I think the only possible downside is the weight if you are in the market for something lighter, then this is probably not going to be the one to buy.
If there is a more solid case out there I've not yet seen it, this really is a great drawer.

Sturdy and effective
This is a very well-built, solid piece of folded steel. The drawer itself is on runner guides so it moves in and out smoothly and with proper support; you could store heavier items in here with confidence. There's a latch mechanism (as well as the key-operated lock) which you operate by hooking your finger into the little finger-pull recess and pressing it down; this means the drawer won't accidentally slide open in transit, for example.
While the lock isn't going to deter a determined thief with a crowbar, it's perfectly adequate for more basic security, and for keeping more delicate items safe (for example, to stop your kids using your microphones as drumsticks...)
All in all I'm very pleased with this, and bought the 2U one as well. You can get foam inserts to fit them too!

Good product
I ordered a number of these for my work station. For the price they are exceptional.
Only problem was one got missed of the delivery, to which Thomann customer services quickly and without hassle sent out in the next couple of days.
And one arrived quite badly crushed (4U) from the top making the lock unusable. These are very thick steel so I don't know how that could happen. None the less the product was still usable and I could not be bothered sending it back so have kept it.

Useful bit of storage
This is excellent for anyone who's got a spare bit of rack space and could do with somewhere to put spare patch cables and miscellaneous gear. The black powdercoated finish is nice and durable and overall it's a nice quality bit of kit. My only problem with this drawer is that it doesn't come with the top handle that some of these drawers come with, which makes it harder to open if you don't have an empty space immediately above the drawer.

A drawer for your rack
it's a 4U steel drawer. I use it for storing cables and other stuff in my rack. It's heavy. The pull out mechanism works fine.

Does the job, but soooo heavy
I know the description says how heavy it is, but my portable production rack went from being easy to manage to needing a trolley because of this drawer. and the smaller drawers are not that much lighter. I am sure there is a better balance of weight vs. durability

Big, heavy, deep and robust.
Great drawers, well built out of heavy gauge steel and are equally useful in the studio or on the road. They are smooth in function and would withstand a battering on the road. Heavy duty locks with two keys supplied and great for storing cables, mics or even bigger items because the are big and deep. Highly recommended.
