Super versatile pedal compressor
JeeWee 21.05.2019
I was looking for an upgrade of my 90'ies Ibanez pedal compressor, that I could also use for my acoustic guitar. The old school pedal was a bit brutal and rough on the edges, being an old fashioned design.
The hyper gravity has a couple of big advantages:
- the blend control, allowing you to mix in the uncompressed signal
- the multiband seting, which works really well on acoustics
- toneprint options to tweak to your heart's desire.
I love this thing, it is NOT leaving my pedal board anymore!

Good

I tried several different compressors before settling on this one. The unit has a blend control which sets the ratio of compressed signal to non-compressed signal allowing one to set up the amount of compression from the unit. Very useful feature. The unit offers a wide variation in output from a simple boost to a full on "squeeze". I was able to find a sretting where the compression works in a very transparent fashion. Highly recommended.

R
TC Electronic HyperGravity Compressor
Robert814 10.11.2015
The only compressor that I have found worthwhile using for the last 4 years or so is the Mad Professor Forest Green Compressor. This is an exceptionally good hand built analogue device with an opto-isolator inside. It is very expensive! TC Electronic appear to take the digital approach to their pedals (otherwise you couldn't have TonePrint) and I am well impressed with their Flashback X4, particularly the low noise of the digital implementation. The price of the Hypergravity compressor is less than half the analogue device. The digital technology gives the possibility of exceptionally wide (even extreme) control of the sound. With ultra low noise, this should be capable of incredible sustain (like a wall of stacks, but at bedroom level). Not my normal setting, but I'd like to have the option. The option of a personalised TonePrint will take me some time to explore, but the standard range of control is really impressive. The Spectra position gave an unexpected treble cut (particularly compared to the Forest Green with tone set at 12 o'clock). The Vintage position was (to my surprise) much better, but still lost a little top. The default TonePrint sample was excellent to my ears - plenty of clarity and cut with masses of compression or sustain depending on the position of the rotary controls. There is no trace of noise from this pedal (of course it will boost noise from other pedals before it in the signal path). I can only say it's "Studio quality" and depending on if you're prepared to spend some time customising your own TonePrint it is possible to get exactly what you want out of it. This really is 21st century electronics! (Less than £100 as well!).

B
Great compressor for studio and live
BrendanHGuitar 06.05.2021
This compressor is a main stay on my board. Nicely compact and well built. The quality of the switches and knobs give me great confidence in all situations. The TonePrint function is really handy as well as being able to edit your own compression curve. From vintage squash to studio quality it does it all. This pedal also works quite well with acoustic guitar. I personally use this for studio and live work. Great product from TC, definitely would recommend :)

Excellent value, build quality & options!
Satan1cMantra3 29.11.2020
So many features packed a compact pedal. Sounds great straight out of the box, more so with appropriate tweaking, and if you can't get around to tweaking it just use the Toneprint to directly import a great sound into the pedal. Love the art and simplicity too. Does the job and makes both magnetic and piezo pickups sound gorgeous, especially full acoustically to equal out the range, but is also really useful for extended range guitars to help balance out the low ends when used before distortion. Love it T.C.!

Great Compressor, value for money
Giorpap 20.09.2019
I use this compressor on my electric (Gretsch), acoustic (Larrivee), and bass (Ibanez) guitar. It's transparent, and performs perfect on any use and gender. It doesn't colorize the sound, so some musicians may find this useless but this is is the point for me: I want a compressor, not a pedal that will change my sound. On electric I use it to tight the sound and give all notes over the fingerboard the same volume and feeling, on bass to smooth out the peaks, and on acoustic to keep the sound on the same level when strumming. You can fine-tune the settings (i.e. the frequency of the 3 bands that the compressor will be apply) through the toneprint editor. The ability to mix the dry and compressed signal is perfect for my acoustic guitar.

Pros: Sound quality, build quality, toneprint editor, price.

Cons: I need more toneprint slots to use it on different instruments, some lag on response when you turn the knobs but this is not a dealbraker.

Definitely recommended.

Excellent choice for anyone looking for a guitar compressor. Small and packed, this pedal provides a vintage compressor, a multi-band compressor for each guitar string and a TonePrint function which can customize it to a big extent. The 4 controls are simple.

Solo Tone Creator (guitar)
V.Rain 22.09.2017
Instead of using overdrive or booster pedal, I use this compressor to push my legato technique through "not a hi-gain amp" to achieve clarity and "selection" in solo tone.
Very good compressor, suitable for legato technique.
