It works good on my magnetic p'up'd jazz 6 string, tones are a bit restricted in range, but ok.
Pre doesn't do overdrive, that's good for me.
This lifts my aux in, to a usable extra chanel, with a nice rich tone.
Plastic box isn't gonna do much screening, though I didn't have problems.
So 50 bucks and looks ok, I can recommend it.

It doesn't work on silent violin as a preamp.
It's not a preamp, its a booster. Don't waste your money.

Problemlöser für passive Tonabnehmer

Bei Proben gehe ich mit meinem passiven Fretless-Bass in den Mixer der PA (also ohne eigenen Amp). Mit dem Preamp TAP Pre-B dazwischen kann ich Sound und Volumen selbst regeln. Der Klang wird nicht beeinträchtigt, auch kein Rauschen. Vorteile sind die geringen Abmessungen und das Gewicht von nur 155g (mit Batterie, Potiknöpfe abgeschraubt). Ein Netzteil dazu geht nicht und will ich auch nicht für diese Anwendung. Ich habe auch einen anspruchsvolleren Preamp - der ist aber wesentlich größer, teurer und hat ein Gewicht von ca. 1 kg (!).
Also: dieser kleine Problemlöser ist immer in der Gitarrenhülle. Der Preis ist eigentlich ein bisschen zu hoch - na ja.
Aktualisierung 2018: Jetzt nehme ich doch lieber den
Preamp K&K Dual Channel (#180828) - ist wesentlich
teurer - aber viel besser und vielseitiger !
