Solid and quiet HH pedal
I bought it to replace the basic HH pedal that came with my son's entry-level TD-1KV kit (in addition to a KT-9 to replace the kick pedal). I originally considered an upgrade with the cheaper FD-8, but once I realized that it uses the same rubber mechanism than the one I had already, I felt there was no point. I'm not quite sure what mechanism the FD-9 uses, but the difference in playability is massive. It is super quiet, and with great responsiveness. I can play heel up or down without problems. It's extremely robust as well (metal, with solid plastic on top), so I'm sure it will last long.
I removed one of the two lateral springs to make the action slightly softer. Great product!

Improvement over the FD-8
My TD-9 kit came with the FD-8 pedal, which eventually became less and less responsive to open/close - a common problem caused by the rubber actuator becoming stiffer over time.
Anyway, I upgraded to the FD-9 and it's a definite improvement. It's quieter than the old pedal, but the hat pedal was never one of the noisiest pieces in the kit anyway so overall noise isn't really affected. It's solid and smooth, and the hi-hat action is nice and responsive.
I've had it about 3 years now with no sign of any degradation and without ever having to change a thing in its operation. It stays where you want it and works flawlessly, which is all you want from it.
It's maybe a bit expensive but if stays this reliable over time then it's worth the investment.

Completely agree with solid and quiet HH pedal review (cperonne 02.01.2018)
Based on other reviewers feedback I bought this HH pedal for my sonβs TD-1K drum kit (aside: also very happy with the recently added 2nd OP-TD1C crash and upgraded snare PDX-8 10β V-Drum Pad and kick KT-9). As per other reviews I removed one of the springs (this is suggested in the manual) for more kid friendly ergonomics. With 2 NE-10 noise eaters on a wooden floor the new configuration is pretty quiet and the both the FD-9 and KT-9 have screws to grip into the NE-10 to prevent slipping (which was an issue with the original TD-1K pedals). All good.

Great!
Very well-made and easy to setup and use right away! Feels nice and similar to an acoustic hi-hat, and also works very well with the different sounds and open/closed positions! Highly recommend!

Very quiet, but one spring is beter
I Found the restance much more preferable when dismounting one of the springs.

FD-9 Hihat Pedal
The pedal is very well made. Playing it feels really nice and the noise emission is very low, which is great for practicing at home.
I use it with the DDrum ddti module and addictive drums vst and everything works as expected.
