I couldn't find a substantional difference in the tone of the suspended tom, compared to other suspension systems, but it's nice and stable and looks great too. The only downside would be the inconvenience of attaching it, as you have to remove lugs from each side of the drum and then screw them back on into place. Can be a bit frustrating if you had achieved that perfect tuning beforehand. Definitely worth it in the end, though!

Isolation mounts can make your kit sound so much better, and the Pearl OPT range are the cream of the crop.
They have slotted monts to allow different lug spacings to fit too.

This does not fit all toms! I bought this for my pearl export 14x14 floor tom to hang on my rack, but it would not fit in the lugs. I am very happy with Pearls products, but this one disappoints me. I thought Pearl would fit in to Pearl, not always apparently.
