8. Digital Systems
Wireless digital audio is now well established in many areas, from Bluetooth headsets for mobile phones to piping audio-visual material around the home. Only now though do we see wireless digital emerging as a tool for the on-stage musician. At the time of writing, comparisons between FM and digital systems are hard to make, as the application of digital technology in this field is so new. However, we can assert that based on the experience of other applications migration from analogue to digital, we should ultimately expect technical improvements in areas such as bandwidth, dynamic range, tolerable traffic density and interference rejection.
