The Neumann MCM 114 Set High Strings is incredibly versatile. I use it for recording violin in combination with a TLM 103, and the quality is exceptional. Although I’ve only used it for recording (since I don't have a proper treated room), it’s been the perfect solution for capturing high-quality sound. If you're in a similar situation without a dedicated recording space, this mic is a game-changer. Highly recommend it!

Unfortunately, in my case, it's not usable.

I play the violin without a shoulder rest. The attachment to the instrument has a sticking out part that digs into my shoulder and causes the microphone possibly to move or detach from the violin while playing. A completely thoughtless solution for such an interesting sounding microphone. Unfortunately, I had to send it back for this reason.
I used a DPA for many years, where this problem does not exist.
