Moog EP-3 50K linear expression pedal
Steve Merlin 01.03.2021
After a lot of research on pot values and other features, I keep coming back to this expression pedal. I use it for my Moog Minitaur (duh), Novation Peak, EQD Transmisser and Strymon guitar pedals. The value adjustment knob and polarity switch are useful and make it a versatile pedal. The pot value is 50K (linear). By the way, for Yamaha keys and the Neo Ventilator, go for a Yamaha FC-7 because the EP-3 doesn't work for those.
Most of the checking-out I did, started with this list here:
Moog EP-3 feels very solid and the pedal stays in the angle you left it in. The included TRS-cable and -plugs work OK.

Basic but solid
Sawtooth Enjoyer 30.08.2022
I use this as an extra modulation input for my DeepMind 12, and it has made it much more, err... expressive! It's a pretty basic expression pedal - just a potentiometer, a polarity switch and an adjustment control on the side, but it's solidly built and does what it does very well. The metal baseplate makes it heavy enough that it stays planted on the floor, big enough that you can easily rest your foot on it and there's a good amount of friction - just enough to keep it where you want it. The part that connects the pedal to the potentiometer is metal - one of the reasons I went with this pedal, since on many of the cheaper ones it looks like snappable plastic. There's lots of attention to detail here: the surface of the pedal is slightly rubbery for extra grip.
The adjustment on the side is probably useful for controlling guitar pedals and suchlike, but it's not useful on a synth where you have direct control over the modulation amount anyway. I forgot it was there until I came to write this review.
The best part about this pedal is that you can boast about having a Moog even if you can only afford Behringer synths.

Not fit for my use, but an excellent pedal!
ivoi.iovi 08.01.2021
I had one of these years ago and used it with a Moog Little Phatty S2, the pedal was solid and this recent purchase matched that quality.
I can't fault the pedal itself, but I am returning this one as I find that for use as an expression controller for guitar pedals (my intended use this time) it is a little uncomfortable due to the height from the ground. When sitting with the synth I didn't notice, but when standing to play guitar it just feels a little off to me.
I guess I just prefer flatter expression pedals which allow my foot to stay closer to the ground, it's a totally subjective thing and I think many people would actually prefer this extra height and certainly the more solid feel.

This might seem like a modest and not very exciting expression pedal, but these things aren't all the same and sometimes a specific pedal doesn't behave well with some gear. Since I bought it in 2016, the EP-3 has proven itself to be the expression pedal that works when others act up. Currently I'm using it with Doepfer A-177-2 to modulate eurorack.

A joy to own and use
PChamaeleoMH 10.12.2020
A substantial expression pedal with a smooth and satisfyingly-weighted action; feels very well made, and makes modulation (via CV/expression pedal input on a Moog Subsequent 37) feel expressive and predictable.

I've owned many pedals before, but this one is the most satisfying both in terms of its solid build quality and in its smooth function.

I have two of them and use both with my EQD Transmisser and EQD Rainbow Machine. Sick pair of pedals right :D ?
Well, these expression pedals are the best pedal available on the market to be used with EarthQuaker Devices pedals. You can check it on EQD website.
Very good value for money expression pedals that performs without any issue till date.

The best expression pedal to buy, not only for Moogerfooger!
Dan88 15.02.2014
I bought this expression pedal for the use with my Soundblox Pro Bass Envelope Filter. A passive expression pedal with tip ring sleeve was needed and found with the EP-3. It is constructed really great. It appears you might even drive it over with the soul train, and it will work fine afterwards ;). The cable is fixed on the pedal, so if its broken, I think it is hard to exchange. But as I said, it is very well constructed, so there shouldn't be any problem. The knob at the side works fine to adjust the amount of "effect changing" you want to deliver with moving the pedal up and down. One of the best things I noticed is, that the way you go from minimum to maximum while stomping on the pedal is pretty long. So actually you have a more distinctive possibility to accentuate your town and a more delicate way to change your parameter with the pedal, because of the longer scale! Maybe thats why it is one of the most popular expression pedals ever made, as well for guitarists, bassists or keyboarders! The price is unbeatable as well!

Well-priced, solid pedal
Matt_M 26.07.2017
Works well as a volume pedal for my iPad + midi controller rig.

Well built with enough heft to stay put while in use.
Features a trim knob, polarity switch, and detachable cable (supplied). The bulky dimensions do make for somewhat uncomfortable use while seated, and the nut needed tightening after a couple of months' use. Overall, a very good pedal for the money.
