Good stand!
Kevo 07.02.2020
I bought this for my rehearsal space ( a sideboard in the living room of my 1 bed flat LOL) I don't have much room so wanted something to sit on the top of the unit and not take up floor space having to move it every time someone visited.

Arrived on time & very well packaged. The build quality for the price is excellent. The damping rubber on the base is nice as well. There are 2 cable clips to keep your cable tidy. It feels quite secure when everything is tightened.

The only negative is the stability. While it has a long boom arm, it is not really possible to use it at full extension at anything greater than about 45-50 degree angle. The slightest touch will tip it over if it does not fall over with the weight of whatever mic you put in. I do use the Gravity Quick Coupler for my mics which does ad some weight. But still. An extra inch and another kilo to the base and you would have a stable winner.

Overall another great product @ a great price from Thomann. Suits my need perfectly and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend depending on your need and the above negatives.

Compact and useful
KazN 11.06.2014
I currently own three microphone stands for my home studio including this one, and it's pretty much perfect for my needs because space is at a bit of a premium.

The round base is reasonably heavy and compact and the construction in general is good.

For most situations stability won't be a problem though obviously the minimal footprint means that it's probably not the best idea to use this stand at 90 degree angles with heavy microphones at full extension as the base isn't heavy enough to withstand that kind of use without toppling over.

I think this microphone stand was described as being good for bass drum applications, and while I'm sure that's the case, I think that's underselling it a bit as I actually got it for mic'ing acoustic guitars (played sitting down on a chair) which it's a really good height for also. When using it for this application, I used it configured for maximum vertical height and found it to be stable.

In addition to using the stand with my acoustic guitar recordings, I also used it when I was doing a vocal microphone shoot out and needed another head height stand. In this case I just stood it on my desk at maximum vertical extension again and it was pretty much perfect.

I'm very pleased with this stand and think it's highly likely that I will buy another one at some point soon.

So good I bought two.
CarlDJB 04.06.2021
Originally bought one to mic a guitar cab (which I never got, thanks UPS) But upon taking it out the box I thought "damn that has some weight to it."

Screwed it into the base, slapped a mic into it and fiddled with it, unlike the mic stands from my college days, these actually stay in place and don't drop slowly, it's amazing. The wire clamps keep the wires where you want them so I thought "y'know what? I'll keep this one on my desk and i'll just buy a second one." Gives another meaning to the phrase "buy cheap buy twice". Highly recommend.

Does what it's supposed to do

Good little cheap microphone stand. It is cheap and it shows but for this price I can't complain. I am using it for micing a kick drum in a studio environment, and for that it just perfectly fine.

I would not recommend this stand for touring or gigging though, as the clamps for tightening the stand just aren't high quality enough for constant use. For set it and forget uses like recording at home or in a studio though? Just the job just fine, and can't be beaten at this price.

Stable doesn't quite define it
DonSchlup 08.11.2020
Got it to record my guitar amp without raising it too much, and was pleasently surprised when it arrived. It's heavy. And boy, do I mean heavy! A lot of other mic stands I've had over the years couldn't really be trusted to still stand when fully extended, but this one can be trusted with it's full range of motion no problem, mainly due to the base plate being so amazing.

And finally, it looks great. I really like Millenium products because they're inexpensive, and at worse they do in a pinch, but sometimes they do so well that you became a loyal customer, and this is the latter case.

Did I mention it's heavy?

Heavy means reliable. If the club owner doesn't pay you, you can always throw the mic stand at him.

Great for mic'ing an amp
krisvad 11.09.2020
I bought this to use for amp mic'ing using my SM57. For the money it is great value. I have it in my home studio meaning it is not moved around much. I am not sure it would last that long if it was set up and taken down regularly, but for a relatively static use, I cannot fault it.

So for use in a studio where it is not changed too often, it is perfect. The base is circular and designed to take up a minimum of floor space. It does mean setting the stand up initially will require you to balance the beam, but the advantage is the minimum requirements to the surroundings.

Unfortunately it is a bit too light for my use case.
I have this microphone stand on the edge of my desk with the arm almost horizontal to put the microphone in front of me. The microphone stand is not stable at this position because my microphone (Shure SM57) is apparently too heavy to be used like this.
