One of the best sounding precision pickups I've heard, but not perfect
I replaced the stock pickup in my Player precision with this one and the improvement was immediately noticeable. This pickup sounds fantastic, there is a lot of character and clarity in the sound and it's also very even sounding. The low end is very nice and woolly, mid mids are great and throaty, there is a slight bump in the high mids but not too much. The only reason I give this pickup 4 stars is because to my ear there does seem to be a very slight scoop in the high bass/low mids which makes them sound a little bit hollow (but not much), but also there is a pretty big narrow spike in the treble range around 9khz. Because this frequency is a bit on the higher side it's not something that you immediately hear in the sound, its rather an unobtrusive sheen of clarity. But after a while I did notice this spike and that it changes the way the pickup blends with other instruments, it makes it sound as if the sound is ''on top'' of the mix sometimes as opposed to inside it. Other than that, I can't imagine a precision pickup sounding any better and I would recommend it to anyone, especially if you want a vintage sounding pickup that has a lot of character, sounds very clear and has slightly emphasized high mids. I think this pickup would pair especially well with flat wounds.
