The HEDD Type 07 MK2 is a studio-grade two-way nearfield monitor designed and assembled in Berlin. It inherits many of the technologies found in its larger siblings, combining a 7" honeycomb diaphragm woofer with HEDD's 2" Air Motion Transformer (AMT) tweeter, whose folded-membrane design delivers fast transient response and detailed high-frequency reproduction. Each driver is powered by a dedicated 100W amplifier, providing stable dynamics and consistent reference monitoring performance. A bass reflex port extends the monitor's low-frequency response, while a removable plug allows the cabinet to be sealed, tightening bass control when required. The Type 07 MK2 delivers a frequency response extending from approximately 38Hz up to 40kHz. As part of the MK2 generation, the monitor also incorporates an internal DSP platform featuring HEDD's Lineariser technology, which optimises phase accuracy and enhances stereo imaging.
The Type 07 MK2's high-resolution DSP platform operates with 32-bit/96kHz conversion. In addition to the balanced XLR input, the Type 07 MK2 also features an AES/EBU input/output for daisy-chaining multiple speakers in digital format. When paired with a second unit, the system achieves a maximum sound pressure level of 116dB SPL. A comprehensive set of DSP tools adapts the monitor to different working environments, including ±12dB input-level adjustment, ±4dB high- and low-shelving filters, and a dedicated desk filter to compensate for reflections from mixing consoles or nearby surfaces. A bass-extension mode can increase low-frequency output by up to 20%, adding flexibility for room adaptation.
At 37cm tall and weighing under 10kg, the HEDD Type 07 MK2 is ideal for small to medium-sized studios and production setups where space may be limited but monitoring accuracy remains essential. Its carefully engineered cabinet construction ensures stable acoustic performance while maintaining clear separation between low and high frequencies for critical listening tasks. Like its larger siblings, the Type 07 features HEDD's CoP (Closed or Ported) technology: Using the supplied port plug and corresponding DSP settings, the monitor can operate either as a bass reflex system to extend the low end or as a sealed cabinet for improved transient response and greater bass precision.
The family-owned company HEDD Audio was founded in 2015 in Berlin, where it still manufactures its high-quality studio monitors, subwoofers, and hi-fi speakers, as well as headphones – or HEDDphones. The name HEDD stands for Heinz ElectroDynamic Design, after its founder Klaus Heinz (who also founded ADAM Audio); his son, who himself has a PhD in musicology, is now CEO. The company’s R&D work is based on their decades of experience, and its mission is to deliver outstandingly detailed sound and optimum signal quality. A whole host of renowned DJs and mastering engineers, including DJ Jazzy Jeff and Sascha "Busy" Bühren, swear by HEDD products for their day-to-day work.
The HEDD Type 07 MK2's onboard DSP tools allow engineers to fine-tune the monitor's response to match the acoustic environment. Filters and adjustments help compensate for room limitations, ensuring reliable monitoring even in less-than-ideal spaces. When paired with HEDD Bass subwoofers, the Lineariser technology synchronises phase behaviour across the system, improving low-end definition. With its flexible DSP configuration and compact footprint, the HEDD Type 07 MK2 adapts easily to a wide range of professional monitoring tasks, from recording through to mixing and detailed production work.
