Like a cheap smartphone -- great on paper, not so much in real life
I bought this because I wanted a P90 guitar with a roasted neck. Found this, looked up eytschpi42 and was sold.
On paper this has everything. roasted neck, locking tuners, graphtec nut, steel frets and some quirky wiring that should be fun. And its got an artist backing it -- should be great no?
Should.
it arrived with a setup suitable for slide guitar maybe. I tried to lower the action and got myself a sitar no matter what I did. I got disappointed and moved it out of sight. I was ashamed. I bought into the hype and got a lemon.
A year passed and I found it again and gave it to a reputable guitar tech guy for a much needed setup.
after another 100 euro its fineish now - still a bit buzzy and for soft playing only. according to the tech guy its just bad engineering -- the angle between the nut and the tuners is not sharp enough so the strings buzz and jump out of the nut. the nut itself is butchered -- cut to low for some strings and yet not at all for others. since its graphtec you cant fill it with glue so when i'll get annoyed with it enough a new nut is in order.
there are no springs below the pickups so you cant adjust the height.
This is all very funny given the fact that the guitar spent 4 days in setup at thomann prior to shipping according to their support -- I asked what is taking so long.
