I ordered this with high hopes after a succession of instruments which just didn't quite measure up. I was almost resigned to the fact that in this price range nothing would be good enough. But for the first time I purchased a quality cello which had the sound post in the correct position and the bridge was the perfect height.
The only thing I changed was to buy brighter C and G strings. The sound has already opened up after three days and the finish is beautiful.
What made a huge difference was the 7/8 size which make it so much easier for my small hands to reach extensions, but the difference in size made no difference as far as I can tell in the sound which is very dynamic and almost effortless to produce.
The only minus was the delivery delay but this is no doubt due to weather and so soon after Christmas. For anyone with short fingers I recommend the 7/8 size of the Maestro 6. It is a high quality cello for the price, so well done Thomann for sending me a superb cello.
