I was looking for Fender original tuners for my old 1978 maple neck, and after a while not being able to found old ones, I decided to buy the new ones.
It was not a mistake. They work perfectly.

They are OK
They are oaky I give five stars The shaft and the ferrules are a bit loose in the 18mm hole? Had to use PT plumbers tape to install

The 70s were big on big things
These tuners are HUGE, which is nice. They are also very solid, they keep the tuning and they look fabulous. I have a Fender Stratocaster from the 70s with the large headstock. I guess "bigger is better" was the thing back then. Anyway, the tuners are good.

Chunky vintage tuners that look the part
Despite the extra cost of having the word 'Fender' embossed on the backplate, these tuners appear to work correctly and look good. If you worry about neck dive you'll probably consider lightweight alternatives. The elephant ears are not massively ergonomic but the gears work nicely. I like them better than the standard Mexican ones.
