EBS Solder-Free Flat Patch Kit-10

I own several ebs patch cables and i like them, they are well built and the flat connectors let me spare a lot of space on my pedalboards. The patch cable kit could have been a good idea but the way it's conceived shows some flaws. The screws on the sides of the connectors should pierce the rubber sleeve of the cable in order to connect the ground wire to the jack shaft but sometimes it doesn't happen; maybe the screw isn't fasten enough due to my lack of practice but the risk of a missing connection is real. Regarding the connection of the signal wire: inside the connector a pin has to be forced into the signal wire by sliding the cable inside the connector. The pin is very fragile and it can break even during the assembly. Although i checked every cable with a tester after putting them together i had to replace a couple of them due to failure(broken pin). At that point i removed all of them from my pedalboard to avoid unwanted blackouts.

Ich habe mir kürzlich mein Pedalboard gebaut und wollte keine einzelnen Patchkabel bestellen, weil ich spezielle Längen brauchte. Nach kurzer Suche bin ich auf dieses Patch Kit gestoßen und habe es nach mehreren Vergleichen bestellt. Der Zusammenbau war denkbar einfach. Zwei kleine Schrauben an der Außenseite des Steckers aufgedreht, das Kabel auf die passende Länge mit dem dazugehörigen Schneidwerkzeug gebracht, in die Stecker eingesteckt und die Schrauben wieder angezogen. Fertig. Nachdem alles verkabelt war, habe ich es gleich probiert. Keine Wackler, keine Aussetzer, alles funktioniert. Auch die Zugefestigkeit ist gegeben. Bin begeistert. Das bleiben die Kabel meiner Wahl. Ob sie den Sound beinträchtigen kann ich nicht sagen, da mir die Vergleiche fehlen. Mir gefällt das was ich höre. Aus dem Set bekommt man 5 Kabel (wegen der Stecker).

I have a dozen of pedals and they were connected to each other by chinese cheap patch cables until today. After a couple of hours of work, I finally changed all the cables with these supposedly high quality ones. The result was, simply, silence. I started checking each and every cable and I realised that one of the two kits simply doesn't work (maybe a defective cable, I don't know). I spent two more hours to understand that it was not going to work and then I reconnected my former patch cables. Besides the defective kit, the whole stuff is overly pricy w.r.t. to what it offers. 3m of cable with a few connectors without the possibility of buying more connectors without the cable. The patch cables are fragile and steal a lot of signal. Terrible
