Tone function not calibrated and depend on battery
Tone are not calibrated and depend on battery voltage
+4dBu is 3.472Vpp, this cannot be provided by 2 x 1.5 Volt battery...
- The amplitude depends on battery voltage, my measurements 1 kHz
@3Vdc +4dBu = 3.18 Vpp should be 3.472Vpp
0dBV = 3.0 Vpp should be 2.828Vpp
-50MIC = 300-400 mVpp should be 6 if dBu or 9mVpp if dBv,
see also -50MIC waveform +4dBu meas 3.36 Vpp should be 3.472Vpp
@2.5Vdc +4dBu meas 2.66 Vpp should be 3.472Vpp
Tone are square wave, very annoying to listen to......
They should have used a 4.5V supply, and calibrated the Tone output or made it fixed. and least added a low pass filter......
No low batt detection
I Would have paid dobble for these features

Pedalboard builders best friend
This little device became my best friend when I started to build my pedalboard. (you know it's a never ending story for guitar players)
Mostly I use angled jack plugs, so by its design it can hold them in place during the soldiering process, and it tells me immediately if I did something wrong.
Effective and comfortable way to work like this.
The test tone function is really good extra to have. One time I needed it, it just saved the day.
The battery came with it still works. I bet it will last for years.
No cons. Worth every penny.

Great tool!
Behringer CT100 is a great and simple tool that does more than it is supposed to. It is well built and for the price it goes, it's a no brainer for every sound engineer dealing with cables on a daily basis.
As I work more and more in field recording, my cables are often left to the mercy of extreme weather situations and with this cable tester, I am able to identify connection problems in a matter of seconds.
Call me old-school, but in addition to that, this thing also allows me to produce and record the 1khz (or 440hz signal) at the beginning of every day for the level reference.
Thanks Behringer! :-)

Affordable cable tester for the hobbyist
This is a really useful device for testing cables, and in my opinion unbeatable at this price-point.
Only con is the build quality: not all jacks are affixed to the case, which _might_ be an issue if you use this thing on tour. (sorry if this is nit-picky)
For me this is not an issue as I'm using it at home and in the rehearsal room. This is why I sill give five stars. At this price point it is hard to complain.
If you remember to switch it off after use, the battery will last virtually forever.

Good and very flexible
I use this mostly as a signal generator and I think it's great!
In my work as a Broadcast Engineer we are requested often to check cables and connection, and this come in so handy! Fits in the pocket, clamps to your belt, so you can use it everywhere.
Also, the 440 and 1kHz switchable test tones are great to test the connection at different frequencies.
The housing is very durable and also the connectors seems they can work really hard for a long period of time.

Does what it is supposed to.
Solid and reliable. Reduces significally the time you spent on checking cables. Forget the multimeters. Would buy it again.

Does everything you'd expect
This is a great little tester - loads of connectors, and the continuity indicator LEDs are brilliant for checking dodgy connections. It will even record intermittent links, so you can find a dry solder joint or break in the cable.
The phantom power indicator LED has come in handy on a number of occasions!
Also, the tone generator - I can't tell you how many times I've wanted one, then suddenly remembered that this thing can generate tones too. Perfect for quick line checks.
It's sturdily built, and comes with a belt clip.
As a quick guide, if you imagine that the LED matrix is the face of a die, then a balanced cable should read a '5', and an unbalanced cable should read a '3'. Anything else, and it's broken!

It works for now
This thing is made for troubleshooting, for the short period of time I used it, it has done its job well. Featurewise, you can probably find testers that offer more features, however I got the feeling I got a fair deal of features for my money. I gave it great rating as I feel it is a very fair deal. It already saved me some time by detecting faulty diy patch cables that were driving me crazy. Layout and labeling is simple and clear, indicators also. I hope everything stays that way and I don't need to ever troubleshoot the device itself :-)
Well worth getting this thing, going through your cables and saving yourself some time and energy in future.

Behringer CT100 Know when to throw a cable away and when to keep.
With the Behringer CT100 CABLE TESTER you have the advantage of plugging in both ends of a cable and carrying out a wiggle test all along the cable where anyone may have stepped on it. It is not just the plugs you need to test,for which the Behringer CT100 cannot be beaten, its the CABLE as well. The battery runs for ages,it takes any plug and midi ,very useful test tone of 1k lets me slate the recording desk meters and out board at all line levels,and put a test tone on the front of a recording for professional cue level,many desks do not have on board test tone oscillators.You can also test across plug types,jack to XLR, mini jack to large jack,phono to jacks and more.The strong belt clip on the CT100 is very useful when working on PA .What a terrific cable tester,thanks to Behringer.
