BW
An adequate replacement for the RSB7D MGB (RIP)
Barnaby Walters 01.04.2024
This bag is Ritter’s replacement for their excellent and sadly discontinued RSB7D MGB Baritone Horn/Tenor Sax case. It’s effectively the same dimensions, with the only major physical difference being the smaller secondary front pocket which now zips vertically rather than diagonally. It’s also rather a lot more expensive than its predecessor, which I suppose is to be expected.

Unfortunately, it is in my opinion a step backward from the RSB7D in every respect. The muted, tasteful colours have been replaced with generic black, the aforementioned secondary pocket is smaller and more awkward, the distinctive and comfortable round metal zip pulls replaced with generic pulls with fabric tags. It’s excessively plastered with Ritter branding, and now sports a pointless velcro patch system.

I would much rather pay the current prices for the old model, and wish I had stocked up on them before they were discontinued. For my obscure use-case of small hurdy gurdy bags these are an adequate replacement. If I was a horn player I would likely look elsewhere.
