Taylor's 400 series goes Grand Pacific

Taylor 417e-R acoustic guitar, front view

Taylor Guitars has a long and illustrious history, and the company's 400-series instruments, which are hand-built to the highest standards of precision at its California headquarters and deliver a well-balanced sound as well as excellent performance and playability, are among its most successful. Taylor has now enhanced this series through the addition of the 417e-R, which features a "Grand Pacific" body shape, a luxurious selection of woods, nickel machine heads, and the tried-and-trusted ES2 pickup system, all of which makes this guitar a versatile and realiable companion for a variety of situations and numerous musical styles. A new feature here is the striking Tobacco Sunburst finish used for the guitar's sitka spruce top, which gives the 417e-R an authentic vintage look.

Sophisticated construction

The Grand Pacific-shape body of the Taylor 417e-R is made from flamed rosewood, and the aforementioned sitka spruce top is reinforced by V-Class bracing, which gives it both plenty of resonance and a high level of stability. Together with the guitar's mahogany neck, this produces a sound with a full, powerful low end and a shimmering treble response, making the guitar ideal for dynamic fingerpicking as well as for chordal playing and strummung. The neck also boasts a comfortable profile, and its 20-fret ebony fingerboard is adorned with stylish Italian acrylic inlays that will also improve orientation when playing. And for situations where a little more volume is required, the ES2 preamp can be used to amplify the guitar's sound with a high level of authenticity.

A Taylor is for life...

Taylor guitars have long enjoyed a reputation as well-built, fine-sounding US-made instruments that will satisfy even professionals' demands. The Taylor 417e-R is no exception and gives discerning players and professional musicians alike a guitar that is sturdy reliable, versatile, and comfortable to play. What is more, the ES2 pickup system mentioned above means its field of possible applications is by no means limited to the living room or studio. The ES2's preamp system comprises three rotary controls that are discreetly recessed into the guitar's upper bout and a piezo pickup beneath the bridge. The pickup also features three screws that can be loosened or tightened in order to adjust the signal's dynamics and sonic nuances during live performances, thus ensuring that the guitar's amplified sound is as authentic as possible.

About Taylor Guitars

Taylor Guitars was co-founded by Bob Taylor in California in 1974 and from the outset specialised in the construction of high-quality acoustic guitars. By focusing on state-of-the-art manufacturing methods and very high standards of quality, Taylor Guitars has made it into the top echelon of fine guitar makers. Names such as Taylor Swift, Leo Kottke, Prince, David Gilmour, and former US President Bill Clinton are a testament to the popularity of the instruments, which are also reputed for their playability. The creation of a second workshop in Mexico has meant that Taylor guitars are also in the mid-priced segment.
