markbass sound ?
refjukias, 11.02.2020
I used to have this amp and I get rid of it due to this midrange boosted sound, that for me felt unnatural in comparison with Ampeg heads. Now I am happy owner of LMIII - You need to learn this amp. Especially filters, that I hated before and thought they are useless - can really shape and do the job (for exampe, one of the most sexy modern JB sound I heard was in the concert of Terence Blanchard E-Collective Band, bass player had his both LM filters set to 12). Remember that, the sound that is comming to Your ear is highly influanced by the room. In one position LMIII sounded to me plastic and midrangy, but You change the angle of cab, change direction and suddenly sound is bigger, clearer and worth 1.000.000 $. Amp is amp - acoustics and the sound physics , especially when dealing with low frequencies (bass instruments) - this is much more important that discussions like "Ampeg vs Markbass vs ...".

Small but powerful
Colm, 05.06.2013
After lugging around bass heads for years that needed a team of people to move, this little gem of a head is just what the doctor ordered. 500 watts and it fits into a backpack! The range of sounds available are just amazing, everything from warm vintage tones to modern and aggressive. I play a active Fender and a Jazz fretless and this head always sounds great. I have been gigging with this for a year and it has never given me any trouble even when pushed to the absolute limit. I play in a rock band with two guitarists who both use 100watt Marshall half-stacks and I can still compete with them for volume. My only complaint would be that there is no headphone input or mute switch.

Great little beast!
Max_Gregor, 20.01.2020
I've been using this amp for a few months now and it's great! Besides a really good response and flat sound there's hardly anything I could say bad about this amp. For now quite a few jazz artists have also played on this rig which and I didn't get one single bad comment. One of those was Richard Bona

Good Golly Miss Molly!!
22.01.2016
Wow...wasnt expecting that!

I had a hartke lh500 and decided to upgrade to this little gem...

I really didnt expect it to sound the way it did...I have so much control over my sound and itreally does emulate the sound of the bass exaclty.

I put a jretro preamp in my bass too and combined with the markbass all my tonal needs were met times a thousand.

I can get my big fat ACDC tone, my slappy marcus tone, jaco, you name it...and of course my own tone...

The VLE and VLF options are amazing... add real depth to the shaping of the tone stacks...

so..PROs
Light weight - fits in a shoulder bag
Replicates my bass tone
Has huge head room - loud loud loud
Doesnt sound like a solidstate - lots of tube grit (compared to my lh500)

Cons
None...for me that is.

I just love it...its a real step up in my eyes.
