Variety and aesthetics
The Fusion-III HSS Roasted IB model is a real eye-catcher. The body made of Nyatoh is painted all over with a matt "Ice Blue" finish. The roasted, bolt-on neck is made of Canadian flamed maple. This instrument is very comfortable to play thanks to its nut width of 42mm and a modern C-profile. The roasted maple fingerboard with its 22 wear-free jumbo stainless steel frets is also more than an off-the-rack product. In addition, a TUSQ nut, a two-point tremolo, and WSC staggered locking diecast machine heads are used here. The electronics consist of a humbucker and two single coils with AlNiCo-5 magnets, made by Roswell. These are complemented by a five-way switch as well as volume and tone potentiometers. The tone potentiometer also allows the humbucker to be split via a push-pull function, and the jack socket is ergonomically recessed into the side of the body.

Roasting
Roasting is one of a range of heat treatment methods that can be applied to wood. This method, which is a relatively recent development, is used in order to give new and/or alternative woods the same tonal characteristics as older, matured tone woods (some of which are now protected by conservation laws and can thus no longer be sold). The wood is placed in a special computer-controlled oven and dried to a pre-determined degree – in other words, its natural drying phase is artificially shortened. This process also changes the wood’s visual appearance, darkening its colour and making the pattern of the grain more distinct.
