Exploring new depths

Size doesn't ALWAYS matter - but sometimes it absolutely does, and the Harley Benton CL Baritone CLG-414CE NT WN with its long scale length and dark, bassy sound is a case in point. Strung with the correct strings, this guitar can easily be tuned a perfect fourth below standard guitar tuning without losing any of its punchiness, and its "Auditorium" body shape means it is still easy to play. The guitar additionally features a solid spruce top, which delivers a bright and dynamic tone that can also be amplified to full effect thanks to the onboard Fishman pickup system.

Long neck, heavy strings

The linchpin of the Harley Benton Baritone CLG-414BCE NT's bright, full sound is the guitar's top and specially adapted bracing. In addition to its comfortable "Auditorium" shape, the walnut body also features a cutaway to provide improved access to the upper registers, and the neck - with a scale length of 68cm (26.7") - is long enough for the guitar to be tuned down to B. To this end, it also comes strung with a set of strings that include a .070" gauge bottom string. The CLG-414BCE NT's built-in Fishman Presys-II preamp system also features an integrated tuner, so the guitar can be amplified without having to worry about anything sounding "off".

Light and easy to play

Unlike electric baritone guitars, the Harley Benton Baritone CLG-414BCE NT is an instrument that is destined to only be played clean - whether it is amplified or unplugged. This guitar's full-sounding, bright tone makes it particularly good as an instrument for song accompaniment without other instruments, even for less trained vocalists. At the same time, the guitar's compact body size makes it surprisingly easy to handle for a baritone instrument, and players will quickly get used to the heavier strings and be able to play the CLG-414BCE NT like a guitar in standard tuning.

One for the specialists

The Harley Benton Baritone CLG-414BCE NT will be particularly attractive to experienced guitarists who are already familiar with the instrument and looking for new sounds - and who know what they want. The guitar's rich tonal characteristics will lend an impressive sound to song accompaniments and finger-picked passages, and outstanding vocal talents are not strictly essential (though of course they won't do any harm!). And last but not least: The CLG-414BCE NT will also find favour with fans of heavier musical styles. "Death Metal unplugged" might not be a thing just yet, but it's surely just a matter of time!
