A classic that won't break the bank

If guitarists were forced to choose one guitar to play for the rest of their lives, surely it would have to be this one: The Fender Stratocaster, a true classic and the most popular electric guitar of all time. The Player Series Stratocaster shown here is made in Mexico and gives players the most affordable way to get their hands on a Strat with the Fender logo on the headstock. The guitar's features are anything but budget-level, of course, and it combines high-quality woods and hardware with updated tone circuits and a fresh and appealing look that includes a one-piece maple neck with a matt finish on the back and an alder body, shown here in a "Tidepool" finish that will instantly put players in mind of the ocean.

Judiciously modernised

The Fender Player Series Stratocaster is the same in many ways as the original design that Leo Fender came up with in the early 1950s. The neck and fingerboard are made from a single piece of maple, and the neck features a modern "C" profile. The fingerboard adds an extra fret to the original model's 21, thus providing even more freedom for lead playing. As mentioned before, the body is made from alder and comes in a high-gloss "Tidepool" finish. The classic Stratocaster pickup combination of three single coils is also present here, but these feature AlNiCo-5 magnets for a more modern twist on the bright, dynamic sound for which Stratocasters are known. Fender has modified the electronics compared to the original Stratocaster design by giving the bridge pickup its own tone control, while the second tone control is shared by the middle and neck pickups. This model also features a two-point tremolo system, which dramatically reduces friction and enhances tuning stability.

An all-rounder AND a specialist

The Fender Player Series Strat MN TPL is an extremely flexible guitar, but its pickup configuration of course means that it specialises in some areas more than others. Specifically, this guitar is most suited to clean sounds and moderate levels of distortion - this is where the pickups really come into their own with a punchy, open sound that retains plenty of character and fullness within the recommended gain limits. Players of Country, Western, Blues, and Classic Rock music can thus be sure of a great sound on stage and in the rehearsal room. The Fender Player Series of course also includes Strats with pickup combinations more suited to heavier musical styles.

About Fender

Fender is without doubt one of the most legendary guitar and amplifier manufacturers of all time. The company was founded in 1946 by its namesake Leo Fender († 1991), whose innovative ideas brought a breath of fresh air into the musical world. His Telecaster, Stratocaster, Precision Bass, and Jazz Bass are not only classics – they also continue to shape the styles of musicians in countless genres to this day. Timeless Fender amplifier models such as the Bassman, Twin, Deluxe, and Princeton also enjoy a stellar reputation. Besides maintaining its classic product portfolio, however, the company is also constantly developing new products that make Fender a driving force in today’s music industry.

Just try to put it down again...

Since it was launched by Fender in 1954, the Stratocaster has established itself as the ultimate electric guitar and can thus be found in virtually every style of music. The Fender Player Series is aimed at the mid-price market segment, and the Mexican-made guitars combine quality that will satisfy demanding players with an affordable price that makes them interesting for beginners as well. And even at this price point, they proudly bear the "proper" Fender logo. These guitars also offer high resale values, perfect for players who want to upgrade or who perhaps decide that the guitar isn't the instrument for them after all (in which case their Fender definitely won't be to blame!).

Happy with the strat
DvDvD 03.03.2022
It's a wonderful guitar - so comfortable to play. The maple neck and the strat body work well for me. Other than that, it is simply a gorgeous guitar.

Features: I did have some issues with regards to tuning stability. I recently had it set up (tightening the trem block springs, exchange the tuning machines to Fender staggered locking tuners, and changing strings to 10s instead of 9s) - this did wonders!
Apparently the nut is carved to accommodate both 9s and 10s (the guitar is shipped with 9s). However, the nut carve lead to a zing with the 9s; changing to 10s resolved this.
The trem arm is a screw in. Hence, it's a little tedious to put in and out. Also it did not come with a spring, and it does not stay in position well (but should be easy to resolve). Overall the two-point trem is nicely smooth!

Sound: I really like these single coil pickups! The dedicated tone for the bridge pickup is very useful.

Quality: I haven't found one issue in construction. The guitar resonates nicely unplugged - a good indicator.

For this price, I getting a Fender strat with these features is great!

Really pleasant surprise
Tomdameek 29.11.2021
I had to sell my US Strat in tough times and this was a gift from my wife to somewhat alleviate that pain many years late. . We couldn’t afford a US Strat but I have to say this more than compensates me for my loss.

Especially the neck and pickups they suit me far better than the previous Strat did. The pickups suit my near break up style of play and are much less noisy than the slightly more pristine sound of the US Strat.

I can still get a pristine sound with a tweak of EQ and I can’t do a great blues Rock without excessive hum.
Pros
It’s a strat with all you would hope from a Strat.
The Alnicos are spot on
Frets really level and a nice modern size
Feels perfect to play especially for little hands like mine
Gorgeous finish
Stable solid feeling trem and tuners
Very well built all round. It will last you a lifetime

Cons
The only con was a few feet sprouts which were easily remedied.
I’m genuinely happy with this. It feels just right.

Amazing guitar for the money
TheCzason 25.11.2018
I wanted to get myself a new guitar and after a bit of online searching decided to get myself a strat. I've never had a Fender guitar before and I knew very little about them so I went to the store and A/B some guitars. This one stood out the most, I compared it to the old MIM Standard cause there still was one in the store and the difference is immense. This guitar feels better made, sound more like a strat should thanks to those alnico pickups and overall feels like a much more expensive instrument. I also got to compare it to American Professional Stratocaster and it is incredibly similar, of course AmPro rings out a bit longer and is a bit nicer and comes with a nice case but I couldn't justify the price difference. I couldn't find a better looking, playing, sounding or feeling Strat in that price range. I recommend it with all my heart to anyone looking for inexpensive but marvelous instrument

L
My first Stratocaster..what a sound!!
LukeOne91 01.05.2020
This is my first Fender's guitar and actually my first single coil guitar.
I already played an American Standard and an old version of mexican Stratocaster. I have to say that the new player series is an important upgrade wrt the old mexican one both from quality and sound points of view. The construction quality is awesome and it looks really good. The only cons is that the frets are not so smooth, but it is not a problem when you are playing. I think that American Standard product should be considered only if you are a professional player. Otherwise, the new player series performance are really satisfactory and you will get the classic Strato-sound. Actually it really fits every kind of musical genres.
