A highly versatile passive speaker

The Electro-Voice ZLX-15 is a passive speaker that combines a 15" woofer and a 1.5" tweeter and will handle a wide range of scenarios. Its 250W continuous and 1000W peak power handling mean that just one of these speakers can provide sufficient sound for up to 50 listeners in an enclosed room, and thanks to its slanted front edge, it is suitable for use as a floor monitor as well as for FOH applications. This popular model delivers a frequency response that ranges from 44Hz to 20kHz, so users will need no more than an additional subwoofer if they want to cover the extreme low end.

Loud, effective, reliable

When paired with an amp, the Electro-Voice ZLX-15 can deliver a continuous SPL of 96dB and a peak SPL of 126dB, and can thus easily hold its own compared to more expensive models. Its 90° horizontal coverage means that this speaker is suitable for widely-spaced audiences, and it will of course also provide good coverage when used as a monitor speaker on the floor, where the 60° vertical coverage angle will also help to prevent this speaker's sound interfering with that of other monitors on the stage. The ZLX-15 has a nominal impedance of eight ohms, and its rear panel features a speaker-twist input for connecting a power amp, mixer amplifier, or power mixer as well as a speaker twist output to allow the signal to be fed to a second speaker.

For bands, solo artists, and locations

The Electro-Voice ZLX-15 is a suitable full-range speaker for bands who rely on their PA speakers for the bulk of their sound in the rehearsal room and on small stages - bands should note, however, that an additional subwoofer may well be necessary. It is also a good choice for singer/songwriters looking for a versatile speaker to pair with their power mixer and thus ideal for intimate locations and outdoor spots. Bars and clubs that have their own PA can use the ZLX-15 as a floor monitor, while bars can also combine it with a suitable mixer amplifier. And last but not least, this speaker will also provide a worthy addition to mobile DJ setups.

About Electro-Voice

Electro-Voice was founded in 1927 and has been dedicated to building sound reinforcement systems and microphones since the 1930s. The firm, originally based in Indiana, USA, is considered one of the industry pioneers and has developed many new technologies still in use today. For example, their hum-cancelling coil was not only a milestone for microphone construction, but also was at the origin of the humbucker pickups still used in many guitars. In the long history of the company, Electro-Voice has constantly expanded its offer and today sells a wide range of products for sound reinforcement tasks from entry to professional levels.

One for the road...

The EV ZLX-15 features a 36mm (1.4") stand mounting flange, allowing it to be placed on most standard speaker stands. This means that the sound can be projected over the heads of the spectators in the front row, even if the stage is not very high. This speaker does not have any eyelets or similar fixtures for suspension, however, so the use of stands is the only way to integrate it into a fixed installation. Despite measuring just 69cm in height and weighing less than 17kg, the EV ZLX-15 is highly stable thanks to its robust wooden construction and thus suitable for small tours as well. The housing is equipped with three recessed handles, which means that two people can easily carry it and one person can move it into position once it has been put in place. For users who intend to transport the ZLX-15 on a regular basis, a suitable flight case is also available (article no. 329286); and if protection against dirt and moisture is sufficient, users can instead opt for the corresponding nylon cover (article no. 320859).
