Eurolite LED Bar-3 HCL

Very good for the price. Decent build quality. Colours good, plenty of range due to the added amber, white and UV. LEDs don?t seem much brighter than the ADJ 3W equivalents, but 12W is the power draw, not a measure of output so it?s just a rough guide. No matter, they?re still nice and bright. I plan to mount these on the FOH speaker stacks aiming sideways across the front of the band to light the singer?s face as best possible - you can?t easily mount lights out front of a pub band. A mix of white and amber should give a warm enough white, wth maybe a little UV to make our white shirts ?pop?, adding to our stage presence. DMX control is good, would have quite liked ability to set different colours on each LED, but not a big issue. Included infra red remote works well, conveniently it can still be used to override DMX without having to change mode on the back panel. That?ll be handy between sets when people want to use the stage mics to make announcements, speeches etc without having to activate the rest of the lights (I?m using a pre-programmed DMX dongle to drive the light ?show? while I play bass). I?m very pleased with these lights, they compare well with the ADJ lights in our rig.

Flexible and versatile

We use these via DMX on small stage events. We fit them on mic stands for amber backlighting, on clamps for colored side lighting, or on the floor as uplights.

After reading several reviews of this product, I happy to say that all of them worked out of the box, and the blackout button on the remote works fine.

Could have wished for more light output, but for the price, it's on the money. The amber diode really makes this handy in more "theater"-like setups.

Tilting downwards on a stand is a bit tricky without angled plug-adapters. But I guess that's what you get for buying a compact piece.

Good light but flickers. Power is allocated dynamically.
Brano F 27.02.2024
The colors, color mixing and intensity of this light is good, they are slightly better than Varytec Giga Bar HEX 3.
The problem is when you turn on more than three color channels, the thing flickers on camera. The flickering is not a usual blinking but it looks like horizontal lines moving through the frame. I have tested on 25fps with 1/50, 1/60 and faster shutters. It seems to stop above cca 1/160 or so. I have tested our older 1m bar from Eurolite and it behaves the same.

It seems that this Eurolite's line of bars dynamically allocates power to different LED colors depending on which one is in use and what intensity. So that the total power draw stays the same. This means that for example if you have R+G+B turned on, the red itself shines less than when you have only R turned on. Practically it means there is a maximum power available always used and that you can get higher lx reading when some colors are turned off.
But the problem is the camera flickering mentioned above, it seems it has a direct correlation with this power allocation.

I have not noticed this on other Eurolite's lights we have (nor any other light I have tested) except this 0.25cm bar and the 1m older bar - so it seems all the bars will have this behavior.
